CHAPTER 33

The three of them sat in silence by the fire, kilometers away from the lab, deep into woods. Selena had told them she lost the baby, nicholas was filled with pain and blamed himself for not protecting her enough. While nathan just remained silent, selena found his silence provoking, his expression were unfathomable and his mind was dead quiet.

"You did it, didn't you?"
Selena accused, staring dead cold at nathan.

"What?"

"You killed my child, you knew your blood was going to be poisonous to my body, you never wanted to have a child with your enemy....."

"What are you saying lena?"

"......so you killed my child. Did you plan on killing me too?"
Selena's anger increased, her eyes blazed and her fans elongated.

"Lena."
Nicholas called her

She turned towards him this time;
"And you, when were you going to tell me you had joined the enemy, huh? How long? So that's how you were able to walk, they turned you right?"
She slowly approached nicholas.

"Lena what's going on with you? You're not thinking straight right now."

"Selen..."
Nathan called

Selena halted, she looked over her shoulder but didn't turn around, she was having a hard time fighting herself. Suddenly, she held her head and screamed, nicholas ran towards her but she flung him with the wave of her hand. Then she took off in a fast run, nicholas and nathan chased after her, calling out to her but she didn't stop.
After running for a long time, she stopped and hid inside a little cave, groaning in pain and frustration.

"My shot, i need to take my shot."
Selena kept mumbling

Breathing heavily, nicholas sat on the ground few feet away from the cave.
"What the hell is she murmuring about?"

"I don't know either. But she's starved, she hasn't taken a drink since she turned."

"That's why she went crazy. She would have pounced on any of us, why didn't she?"

Nathan sighed and bent down to observe her closely.
"She can't approach me, because i turned her."

"Right, you're like a dominant and she your submissive."

Nathan looked at him, brows irked up.
"Really?"

"What, that's the simplest explanation i could come up with."
He sighed
"What about me, i could feed her."

Nathan took a deep breath.
"You're the one she's fighting herself for, she's scared she wouldn't be able to stop herself if she did. She loves you."

Nathan saw her getting weak and calm, then he slowly approached her, she turned to look at him and he halted. When she didn't make any objections or attempts to run, he continued moving toward her until he could see and hear her clearly.

"I..i need to get my shot, my...my shot."

"What shot selen?"

"My shot, my...my antidote, my shot."

"What does it do?"

"My shot, must take my shot, grandpa...grandpa say it's my...my antidote."

Nathan balled his fist
"Antidote for what?"

Selena held her head and whimpered, she was beginning to turn pale, her eyes were still red and little fangs still out. She was getting weaker and weaker;

"We need to get to base as soon as possible, she needs to feed."
Nathan said

"Okay."

Nathan gently brought her out of the cave and piggybacked her, then they began to run.
They arrived at dusk, selena had already passed out, so they allowed her to rest but nathan never left her side for a second. He cleaned her up and changed her clothes, he sat there and just watched her sleep, caressing her face.

I'll be right here wife, i'll feed till you're satisfied.

Arnold almost went crazy when he couldn't find his children, he blamed himself silently for forcing the life he lived for years into them. His father had made him an excellent hunter from the moment he could talk, he thought of doing same with nicholas. Now both his children were nowhere to be found.
Christopher didn't seem worried, he was calm and relaxed, arnold found his behavior appalling;

"Aren't you a bit worried? They're your grandchildren."

"They will find their way back. Selena i know will, i have a strong control over her now."

Arnold became angry, he smashed the glass tube that stored vamp blood.
"You will not turn my daughter into one of your guinea pigs! I'm going out to find my kids."
He said and stormed out

Arnold set out with a few men to go find his children, he was full of regrets now and thought he should make up for his past mistakes. He let his wife down and he wasn't intending to let his kids down too, he decided if Selena wanted to be with nathan, then he didn't have a choice. If there's anything he had witness and was certain about, is that nathan would never harm his daughter because of their mate bond.
      Christopher had grown into a hateful being because he could never have expected that his wife would be mates with a vampire. And even when he had caught her cheating on him with her mate several times, he couldn't let her go, which made him hate the vampire race even more.

"I can't let what happened to my wife happened to my lena too. I have to protect both my kids from you dad, even if it means going against you for once in my life."
Arnold said to himself as he drove his old truck through the woods.
