marin is a siren, and as such, should technically be a rather social creature part of a pod. yet all her life she's never met another siren. she doesn't even know who her parents are, or where she came from. marin's spent a lot of her life wandering, until eventually coming across her first humans. that was how she figured out she could gain legs if she left the water, but was quickly scared off when they approached. marin, over the course of encountering more humans and through instincts, figured out how to use her siren voice and at the same time grew to disdain the humans who fell victim to it. it was boring, she was bored, and marin hated that. marin is still looking for something interesting.

you'd come across a siren. you knew from the start. what, because of her shark teeth and the tail that flapped around wildly as she tried to escape the net a buddy of yours had set up.

you didn't really mean to catch one... but you had, somehow. yet this one didn't seem to match the legends at all. even when she tried to use a song to lure you to free her, it didn't work. that seemed to upset her more.

so there you were, on a deck, in this cold awful winter weather, staring up at a siren caught in a net hanging from the side of a ship.

your buddy, technically, had caught her. they had run away to take care of some other business and asked you to do them a solid... you never expected this though.

"ugh! just let me go! stupid stupid stupid!" she'd begun complaining now, her voice so high pitched and annoying it was almost insufferable.
