Regrets

People make mistakes. That's natural and normal. Usually, when this happens, people try their hardest to fix what they've done. Meanwhile Shun was staring at his phone, as the number of missed calls from his mother increased. What was he supposed to do? If he actually call back, everybody would find out he lied. Instead, he sent her a quick message in which he assured he's fine, nobody kidnapped him and he's gonna be gone for unknown amount of time. Surprisingly, it worked. Although even Kaidou realized she most likely didn't believe him.

Out of nowhere, his heart rate increased. Suddenly it was hard for him to breathe. He reached for a water bottle and frightened seeing how trembling his hand was. The car appeared way smaller than before. All he wanted was to escape from it.

"S-saiki" he stuttered feeling worse every second. Aren and Nendou were still asleep, so he didn't want to bother any of them "Can we get out for a second? I need a break"

'There's no reason to take a break. We're staying here"

That's when the car stopped, and Kaidou got out of it a second after. He took a few deep breaths, but they didn't seem to help.

Should I help him or not? Nah, maybe if the doesn't calm down in a quarter.

Ignoring beautiful landscaping of a small village surrounded by hills, Kaidou sat on a gravel ground and put his hand on his chest, in hope for it to be at least a little helpful.

"Look Kuboyasu!" Nendou yelled while laughing terribly loud "Kaidou is searching for bugs in gravel! What an idiot, he obviously won't find any!

You cretin! Stop yapping, it's not helpful! I feel ten times worse!

But Kuboyasu was clever enough to quickly realize his best friend would never search for bugs for fun. He left the car half awake and came to see what was happening. Seeing Kaidou crouching next to car, with his head facing down was a clear answer. He sat next to his friend and when Kaidou looked at him, he gave him worried expression.

"I... I don't know.... I'll be fine in a minute" Kaidou promised even though he could barely say those words. He had terrible time understanding his own thoughts, not to mention having any kind of conversation.

"I wouldn't be so sure" Kuboyasu tried to sound relaxed, while his forehead was sweating like crazy "Shun, look at me"

So he conformably did. They made eye contact without saying a single word, and this was already pretty effective. Kaidou felt like his chest was turning lighter every second. This was a feeling of an actual relief. But that doesn't mean he was suddenly doing fine.

"Now, you're gonna breathe with me, fine?"

"Aren, I don't need-

"Breathe with me"

There was a quick moment of silence, during which Kuboyasu started doubting his own way of helping. That's when Kaidou sighed and nodded. He felt confident again, so he smiled gently at Shun.

"Great"

He had no idea if this method was good, or where did he came up with it from. It just felt right to synchronize their breaths. It felt right to do it with Kaidou.

So they did for another two minutes, until they both decide Shun needs no more help. They looked at each other with honest smiles. They just stared like that until Kaidou realized how close their faces were. He blushed of embarrassment and turned his head.

"Thank you. I feel much better" he murmured with no emotions and stood up. Aren sat there watching his friend getting all his things. Now he was the one feeling miserable. He felt the guilt in his heart. That is because he knew what was happening. He intentionally stayed quiet in hope of... he wasn't sure what exactly was he expecting.
