At the end of May, the imperial capital was as hot as a steamer.

Gu Jin, wearing a white dress and six-centimeter-high heels, stepped out of a taxi with several shopping bags. Under the envious gaze of the driver, she walked into the community.

She took out her access card and swiped it to open the door, and a cool breeze greeted her.

This was a high-end double-occupancy apartment located near Imperial Capital Normal University. The security was excellent, the facilities were comprehensive, and it was expensive! Since the residents were two young women, the apartment was decorated with a strong feminine touch.

"Xiao Jin!"

As soon as Gu Jin returned to her room and put down the shopping bags in her hand, she heard a woman's clear voice calling from outside the door. She frowned slightly, picked up the shopping bags again, and stuffed them into the closet.

The next moment, Cheng Xin, wearing a pair of pink slippers, pushed the door open and walked in.

Gu Jin lowered her eyelids without showing any emotion. She had a strong sense of personal space and didn’t like others entering her room without permission.

But in the eyes of Cheng Xin and the original owner, they were so close they could wear the same pair of pants. It was perfectly natural to enter each other's rooms freely.

"Xiao Jin, where did you go today? Why didn’t you call me?" Cheng Xin pouted in dissatisfaction and sat on the large bed without any sense of being an outsider. Suddenly, she blinked her eyes mischievously and teased, "Could it be... that you avoided me to go on a date with Shao Chong?"

Gu Jin glanced at the newly changed bedsheet from the morning and naturally smiled, "What are you talking about? Shao Chong is busy with work; he doesn't have time to accompany me. It's getting hot, and my old clothes aren't suitable, so I went shopping and bought a few new ones."

"What? You went shopping by yourself?" Cheng Xin exclaimed.

Having grown up with Gu Jin, Cheng Xin naturally understood her best friend's temperament. Gu Jin had always been quiet and could even be described as serious and dull. She didn’t particularly like shopping, let alone taking the initiative to shop alone.

Realizing she might have overreacted, Cheng Xin coughed and angrily scolded, "How could Shao Chong let you shop alone? That’s so wrong of him! No matter how busy he is, is it more important than accompanying his girlfriend?"

Then she earnestly advised Gu Jin, "Don’t be too easygoing with him; men shouldn’t be spoiled. I'll have a meal with Shao Chong later and give him a good talking-to."

Listening to Cheng Xin's "righteous" words, Gu Jin raised her eyebrows, smiled silently, and said nothing.

Cheng Xin had a lively personality and quick thinking. After scolding Shao Chong for a bit, she switched topics, "By the way, what clothes did you buy? Let me see. Jing Hao is too domineering; he often has custom-made clothes sent over, and I haven't gone shopping in a long time."

"And you are too inconsiderate, not inviting me to go shopping!" Cheng Xin kicked her legs in mock complaint, messing up the neatly arranged bedspread.

If Gu Jin didn't know Cheng Xin's personality, she might have thought she was showing off.

Fortunately, she was prepared.

She forced herself to look away from the bedspread.

She opened the closet, took out the new clothes she had bought, and then selected one of the shopping bags and handed it over, saying, "Here, I bought this for you. Please forgive me, Miss."
