Jing Family.
In a spacious and bright room, several valuable paintings of landscapes were hanging on the walls. The room was furnished with antique-style furniture.
On the rosewood tea table, a purple clay teapot exuded an elegant and noble aura. Next to the teapot were several teacups, emitting steam. The fragrance of tea filled the entire room, soothing and pleasant.
The atmosphere should have been calm and peaceful, but the air was so still it made one uneasy.
After a while, a withered hand reached for a teacup.
Old Master Jing sat in the center of the hall on a chair, wearing a plain gray Tang suit without any embroidery. Even so, he still exuded a vigorous presence. His cloudy eyes and head of white hair did not diminish his authority; rather, they added to his intimidating aura. Just sitting silently, he could create an overwhelming pressure.
As time passed, the steam rising from the teacup gradually lessened. The Jing family members present, including Jing Hao, who was directly subjected to the old man’s stern gaze, dared not even breathe.
Old Master Jing slowly brought the teacup to his lips but set it down with a clunk on the table, causing everyone to shiver inwardly.
The old man’s expression was serious: “Jing Hao, what have you done behind the scenes?”
He knew his grandson well: petty, vengeful, and prone to scheming in the dark. It was no surprise that Jing Hao would retaliate after being forced to lower his head to Mu Mingcheng, considering it a great humiliation.
However, was Mu Mingcheng someone Jing Hao could afford to mess with? The Mu family had been entrenched in the country for hundreds of years, deeply rooted, and with the Jing family’s strength, it was impossible to uproot them overnight.
Initially, Old Master Jing thought that Jing Hao’s smooth sailing had led him to be overconfident, especially about women. If experiencing some pressure could help him correct his faults, it might be beneficial.
But he never expected that it would lead to complete confusion.
“Grandfather,” Jing Hao stood respectfully opposite him, his face expressionless, “I truly didn’t take any action.”
Jing Hao felt deeply resentful toward Mu Mingcheng. After the banquet, he noticed that Cheng Xin’s gaze often followed Mu Mingcheng, even making him feel like stepping aside.
After several rounds of questioning, Cheng Xin revealed the truth: Mu Mingcheng had been her dream since she was young.
Hearing this from his beloved, Jing Hao was deeply disheartened. He never imagined that Cheng Xin had such a connection with Mu Mingcheng.
During their pursuit, Cheng Xin had been so enthusiastic and sincere, never giving up. Jing Hao’s long-neglected heart was eventually moved, deciding to focus on her alone.
Now, learning everything, Jing Hao felt he was fleeing from the love nest he had with Cheng Xin. He forced himself to ignore her mournful and sad eyes.
Perhaps, they all needed time to cool down.
As a result, Jing Hao became even more antagonistic toward Mu Mingcheng. It was not just about business; Mu Mingcheng had also been a rival for his beloved woman. The conflict between them was not just professional but also personal, destined to be a fight to the death!
But despite his disdain for Mu Mingcheng, he wouldn’t provoke him again when he was not strong enough.
“Hmph,” Old Master Jing snorted coldly, disdainfully saying, “Are you saying Mu Mingcheng waited a few days just to retaliate?”
