Gu Jin pretended not to see the message, long-pressed the power button, and turned her phone screen black.

Satisfied, she lifted her umbrella and walked out of the school gate.

It was dismissal time, and the area outside the school gate was bustling with people and cars.

As Gu Jin walked through, she attracted many curious glances.

There were many female students at the Imperial Capital University, and many were quite striking.

Among the well-dressed, stunning women, Gu Jin’s fresh, makeup-free appearance in the sweltering summer made her stand out even more, not blending into the crowd at all.

Several men, eager for attention, tried to approach her.

Just as they were about to take a step forward, their plans were thwarted.

The woman walked out of the school gate without stopping and turned in another direction.

At that moment, a man of medium height in a suit and tie stepped out of a luxury car and respectfully stood in front of her.

After saying something, the woman’s expression shifted from displeased to quickly neutral as she followed him to the luxury car.

The car window slowly rolled down, revealing Mu Mingcheng’s elegant and handsome face.

He wasn’t wearing glasses today, and the harsh sunlight fell directly on Gu Jin’s face.

His gaze was as cold and piercing as an ice pick, making Gu Jin feel uneasy, as if the gentle and indulgent man from yesterday was just an illusion. But from her knowledge of the novel, she knew this was Mu Mingcheng’s true self.

In front of others, Mu Mingcheng’s gentility and politeness were merely a facade of his aloofness.

She could tell at a glance that he seemed to be in a bad mood, but she understood the reason and said in surprise, “Mr. Mu, why are you here at the university again? Did the school leaders invite you?”

Mu Mingcheng glanced at her with a hint of a smirk and said, “Didn’t I ask you to wait for me at the school gate? Where were you planning to go just now?”

“Ah?” Gu Jin widened her eyes and acted confused. “When did you say you were picking me up? I didn’t know.”

Seeing that the boss wasn’t speaking, Assistant Fang, who was standing by, looked pained and couldn’t help but remind her, “Mr. Mu sent you a message just now.”

Gu Jin turned to look at him and blinked. “I’m so sorry, my phone ran out of battery during class, and I didn’t see the message.”

Playing dumb, again!

Mu Mingcheng narrowed his dangerous phoenix eyes, feeling that he might have underestimated the woman’s audacity and shamelessness.

Gu Jin stood outside, smiling sweetly and appearing genuinely sincere, her heart unaffected by her outward calm.

Inside and outside the car, both of them smiled warmly like a spring breeze, yet Assistant Fang couldn’t help but feel a chill.

As the sun set, the ground still retained the heat from the day, but Gu Jin had not a drop of sweat on her forehead.

The car door opened, and a rush of cool air greeted her. She entered the car without waiting to be urged, deliberately placing the umbrella between them.

As soon as she sat down, a hand slipped around her waist, easily subduing her resistance. Mu Mingcheng said softly, “Sweetheart, I’m going to make an exception this time. There won’t be a next time.”
