The next day, Gu Jin slept until eleven in the morning, only waking up to the persistent vibrations of her phone.

Her pure white chiffon nightgown had somehow hitched up to her waist, and her long hair was spread out on the pillow like a waterfall, creating a vivid and lively scene.

She lay in bed, groggy, and reached into the pillow to search for her phone.

Upon checking, she saw it was an unfamiliar number.

She hung up immediately.

Yesterday, she had worn ten-centimeter heels and stood for several hours while walking the runway. She hadn't felt much discomfort before going to bed, but during the night, her feet ached intensely.

The pain in her abdomen from her period had been somewhat overshadowed.

Her feet must have swollen!

In the dead of night, Gu Jin had to use some liniment from her medicine cabinet and massage her feet for hours before finally falling into a dazed sleep as dawn approached.

Fortunately, she only had two afternoon classes today, so she had deliberately not set an alarm, hoping to get some extra rest.

Who knew she would be woken by a phone call?

At this moment, sleep was the most important thing, and no call could stop her from catching up on her rest.

Besides, an unfamiliar number calling at this hour was most likely a sales pitch for insurance.

She lay back on the bed, just closing her eyes when the phone rang again and again, like a persistent alarm.

Gu Jin irritably rubbed her hair, turning her smooth locks into a tangled mess.

“Hello~”

She took a deep breath, sat up to answer the call, and spoke with an unfriendly tone.

However, to Shao Chong on the other end, Gu Jin’s voice sounded unusually soft and drowsy, carrying a seductive, just-woken rasp.

His heart raced immediately.

With a dry throat, he spoke before the other person on the line could hang up out of impatience: “It’s me.”

Gu Jin, who had been dazed, suddenly woke up.

She checked the number on her phone; it was definitely not Shao Chong’s. She had already blacklisted that number.

Leaning against the headboard, she said slowly, “Oh, Mr. Shao!”

Mr. Shao?

Why was she addressing him so politely?

Shao Chong frowned, feeling displeased.

He suppressed his discomfort and softened his tone, asking, “Aren’t you up yet?”

Gu Jin yawned and covered her mouth. She didn’t want to waste more words with someone so oblivious to their faults, so she replied, “Mr. Shao, is there something you need? If not, I’m busy preparing for exams, so I’ll hang up now.”

“Wait,” hearing that Gu Jin was about to hang up, Shao Chong quickly stopped her. He hesitated for a moment before asking, “Why haven’t you been answering my calls these past few days?”

So, you just called again with a new number?

Gu Jin’s gaze shifted as she hesitated before saying, “We’ve broken up, so it’s not appropriate to stay in touch. My boyfriend might get jealous.”

Her boyfriend?

Shao Chong had initially wanted to chat with her a bit and maybe invite her out, as Gu Jin’s coldness towards him these past few days had annoyed him and also displeased Cheng Xin.
