They say the third time's a charm, but Lia's not so sure about that. As she steps through The Elysium's front doors for the third time, luck feels as elusive as ever. However, having the Elysium Dragon by her side this time makes the experience feel markedly different from the previous two times she went alone.

Before, no one had ever opened doors for her with such enthusiasm that it seemed they might fly off their proverbial hinges. She uses "proverbial" because, of course, the doors are automatic and there are no actual hinges in sight. However, what is very real are the dozens of people standing at attention—people she's not particularly thrilled to see.

"Kailangan ba talagang dito tayo dumaan?" paanas niyang tanong sa katabi na kung maglakad ay parang walang pakialam sa mundo. If Raphael starts greeting the staff and shaking their hands, she's going to kick his shin and her job be damned.

"I'm under the impression that we've stopped tiptoeing around each other. Or are you still enjoying that little game?"

"I'm not playing. Especially not with you."

He had the audacity to sigh and flash a grin at her just before he pressed an unmarked button on the equally unmarked elevator. The metal doors slid open silently and he stepped inside. "Come on now, sugar." He gestured for her to join him, and despite her reluctance, she stepped inside. The instant the elevator doors slid shut, Raphael his towering, 6-foot-2-inch frame of pure muscles against her, pinning her firmly against the cold metal wall of the moving elevator. "With that truly awful plan, you're facing a boring eternity. If you're not going to play with me, you sure as hell won't be playing with anyone else either."
