𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡, 𝐊𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐤𝐨 𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐢 passed her final exams with flying colors. After hours of studying and sleepless nights, the redhead ranked second in her class and number three in her promotion. She can remember the nasty smirk that tugged the corner of her lips when her dear twin brother ranked first in his class but fourth in their promotion. At least she was the better twin in academics, not that it was a competition or anything.

Tomorrow will be one of the most important days for fifteen-year-old Kimiko. February the twenty-sixth. Because, when the end of the year is in no longer than a week and graduation is coming up, there are high school entrance exams for third years to take.

In the girl's case, that exam will determine her future, without exaggerating anything. She doesn't have room for failures or mistakes. Because Yuei High School only accepts the best of the best. Those who they deem worthy of being a hero. Those only who have outstanding potential deserve to join their ranks. Needless to say that the redhead was feeling more nervous than she ever was. Or... excited would be the exact term.

Especially when her twin brother already has a spot reserved for him. Yep, that's the peck of being recommended by the number two hero. A hero who, by the way, was her father. A father who didn't bother to hide who his favorite was. The entrance exam for recommended students happened today. This leads to the present, where Kimiko finds herself in a really awkward situation.

"You will be busy starting tomorrow, so that will be the last time I see you in this room," A voice filled with authority and power said. "Understood?"

His interlocutor only nodded, not bothering to answer with words.

Now, the Todoroki family was not your typical family, far from it. When you have two members missing, the patriarch of the family being a douchebag, an emotionless twin, a resentful brother, and a passive sister, you don't usually eat together. It's been years since the last time Kimiko ate with her father let alone with her twin brother. With Natsuo staying on campus, the only ones sitting at the dinner table were her father, Fuyumi, Shoto, and herself. The tension was more than awkward.

Kimiko expected to eat with her sister tonight, like all the other nights of the year with Natsuo occasionally joining them. The way her eyes widened when she saw her father and twin brother sitting at the table and the face she made was surely priceless.

"You're old enough to organize your own training, now," Enji continued, bringing a portion of rice to his mouth. "I want you to go over your weakness and use your fire to stabilize yourself in battle."

The uncomfortable silence that followed her father's words was almost palpable. How is it possible to reach such a level of awkwardness? She doesn't hold the answer to her question. Sitting beside him, Kimiko could see from the corner of her eyes the way her twin brother only continued to eat. He seemed so unbothered which sincerely impressed her.

However, Enji wasn't having it. "Shoto! Did you understand?"

Kimiko heard her sister gulp in nervousness when the bi-colored teen took his time to answer, slowly bringing a portion of soba to his mouth before finally speaking. "I did, but I will not do it."

Well, dear brother you grew some balls, I see. If she kept her face neutral, the redhead was internally smirking like never before. Seeing her brother defy their father with such a calm and unbothered voice fills her with pride. The two siblings may not speak with each other, but that doesn't stop the girl from admiring Shoto disobeying their old man.
