Dear Diary,
It's been a while since I've last written to you. I would say- a month? Anyway... I am currently fifteen and my last year at Corusan Middle School is practically ending. Yeah, I am getting old, lmao. Just kidding. I am laughing now but I can assure you that the final exams coming up are everything but funny. It's HELL. Like, seriously. I have three exams on Tuesday, two of which are four hours long! The last one is only two hours. Then, on Wednesday I have a two-hour exam in Japanese Literature and two four-hour exams on Thursday in Economics and Maths. Kill me now...
Oh, wait! I can't afford to die now. I have another exam soon too and can't miss it. MY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT! Just kidding, again. Kinda... LOL, let's be serious now. I have a CRUCIAL exam coming on February the twenty-sixth. I think you may know what I am talking about. Yep, it's the famous Yuei High School entrance exam. You know, the top one hero school in the country that my old man and -- my all family, for that matter -- doesn't want me to join. There's a written exam followed by the practical, and I still don't know what awaits me.
Now, the question you may be asking is: why go for the entrance exam when you can be recommended? Well, despite my father being the second hero of the country, I wasn't recommended. Yeah, you can cry.
Dad hasn't changed since that day. You know... the day he yelled I couldn't become a hero, especially one like All Might. Well, he can go and burn on his own flames. He doesn't get to decide for me, not after everything. That man has cast me and my siblings away because of our quirks. We were failures because we didn't inherit two quirks. Therefore, if following that old man's reasoning, we can't become a hero. Well, I spit on his rules and his shitty reasoning.
The day before, I heard him talk to Sho-kun about sending a letter of recommendation to Yuei. Yeah... my twin is getting in recommendation. I am not jealous, or angry. I swear! For me, not being recommended means I can prove my worth during the exams and prove that I deserve to be there, to study in the hero course. But of course, all that is in the finest discretion. I can't afford to let Sho-kun or Dad know I joined Yuei instead of the High School my older siblings joined.
That's gonna be tough... but if I can manage to go to the exam without anyone noticing will be a miracle. I have time to think of how I will be doing it for the rest of the year. lol. That's all for me, imma going to study for those exams and sneak out to train in the mountains in the dead of the night.
Kimiko Todoroki signing out!
After delicately closing her diary, Kimiko let out a deep sigh and turned her gaze to the towering stack of textbooks and notes piled high on her desk. The sheer number of books and papers seemed almost comical as she made a stoic face.
With a deadpan smile, she couldn't help but think of the irony. She had just poured her thoughts and dreams into her diary, only to be met with the harsh reality of final exams. The contrast between her aspirations and the immediate challenge of studying felt like a cruel joke. Especially when I can be up in the mountains training... She thought with envy.
She reached for the top book, flipping it open without much spirit. The pages, filled with dense text and complex diagrams, seemed endless. "Well, here goes nothing," she muttered to herself, trying to muster some enthusiasm. But the words felt hollow, her energy already drained by the thought of the long hours ahead.
