𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐩𝐥𝐲, 𝐡𝐢𝐬 gaze landing on a figure leaning casually against the wall a few feet away. There stood Kimiko, her hands stuffed into the pockets of her trousers, her posture as relaxed as her tone. A smirk tugged at the corner of her lips and an eyebrow was raised, though her eyes gleamed with a knowing edge, one that cut straight through his guarded expression.
The boy's gaze darkened as his sister's voice pulled him from the storm of his thoughts. Irritation flared like a spark against dry wood, igniting a simmering frustration that tightened his jaw and clenched his fists. He'd come here to escape—to be alone, unfiltered and raw, with the anger that churned inside him. But now, with Kimiko standing just a few steps away, her presence reminded him of everything he wanted to shut out.
He didn't need this. Not now. Not ever. She was the last person he actually wanted to see.
"What do you want?" he asked flatly, his voice cold enough to match the frost creeping into his thoughts.
Kimiko leaned casually against the wall, hands still buried in her pockets. She tilted her head, a playful smirk tugging at her lips. "Don't look so thrilled to see me, Sho-kun. You might hurt my feelings."
Shoto's jaw tightened as his mind twisted itself into darker knots. His gaze remained fixed on the ground, but the weight of Kimiko's presence bore down on him like an anvil. In his peripheral vision, he could make out that faint, insufferable smirk tugging at her lips—the one he had seen so many times before and that always seemed to infuriate him so much.
It grated against him like sandpaper, a cruel echo of their father's arrogance. It wasn't just her expression, though. It was her eyes. Those sharp, unyielding eyes that stared at him as if she were dissecting him, searching for weakness. They hold the same intensity as their genitor. They were unbearable to look at.
The resemblance wasn't just skin-deep. It was in the way she carried herself too, in the defiance that clung to her like armor wherever she went. But instead of being molded into the image of Endeavor, she had taken those traits and wielded them for her own purposes. She wasn't a puppet, not like he had been. She had somehow made the very things he despised her strength.
And yet, that only made it worse.
Shoto couldn't help but feel as though she was looking down at him, that smirk that seemed to mock everything he lived, every emotion he felt. She couldn't care less about the weight he bore, about what he went through while she was casually wandering outside or inside their house freely while he was stuck with Endeavor, about the fire he refused to touch. She had embraced it, and in doing so, she had left him behind.
It felt like betrayal. The bitter taste of it was enough to make him scowl, though it was internal.
He turned his head away slowly, his expression cold and impassive, but his eyes burned with unspoken anger as they glared at the ground. His words came out like frost-coated daggers, precise and cutting. "Maybe if you had any feelings worth hurting, I'd care."
