"Yo, this is gonna be the biggest launch anyone's ever seen! That meeting had me nervous as hell. Can you believe Quincy is about to be sold in Macy's?" Justin said, all hyped up.
"I know, man, it's crazy. I knew focusing on the ladies would pay off. If this goes well, I'm thinking about branching out into kids and men's lines too. Maybe even getting into more affordable spots like TJ Maxx, Ross, Marshalls, and all that."
As we were heading back to my office, Justin suddenly stopped dead in his tracks, staring at his phone like he just got hit with some bad news.
"Justin? What's going on?" I asked.
He looked at me, concern all over his face. "I think it's best we talk about this in your office."
We entered my office, and I dropped into my chair. Justin looked tense as he spoke, "Bro, have you seen this video that's going viral?"
"I haven't been on my phone all day. What video?" I asked, feeling a sense of dread creeping in. Justin hesitantly handed me his phone.
As I watched, I could feel my anger boiling over. "Where'd you get this?"
"It's on TMZ," he replied, clearly uneasy.
"What the fuck, yo?!" I snapped. "Siri, call Kelcy."
The phone rang a few times before Kelcy picked up, her voice light and unsuspecting. "Hey Q! What's up?"
"Kelcy, you seen this video?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady, but the anger was creeping through.
"What video? I've been in meetings all day. What's going on?" she replied, her tone shifting, sensing something was off.
I hesitated for a moment, not sure how to tell her. "You need to check TMZ right now."
"TMZ? Q, what's going on?" she asked, her voice now tinged with concern.
"Just look at it, Kelcy. You need to see this."
There was a pause on the line as she pulled up the site. I could hear her breathing quicken as the realization hit her. "Oh my God... Q... what the hell is this?"
"I don't know, Kelcy. But we gotta deal with it. I need you on this, right now."
"I'm in shock. I... I can't believe this," she stammered, her voice shaking.
"Neither can I," I muttered, gripping the phone tighter. "But we don't have time to be shocked. We need to fix this, fast."
"Kelcy, I need you to call that scandal fixer friend of yours. I don't care what it costs, just get them on it," I said, urgency creeping into my voice.
"DONE. This is bad, like really bad," she replied, still in shock.
"I know it is. That's why we need this wiped from the internet, like, yesterday. I need you to handle this, Kelcy. You're the only one I trust with something like this."
She took a deep breath, steadying herself. "Alright, I'll make the call. Whatever it takes, we'll get it handled."
"Thank you. I owe you one, Kelcy."
"I gotchu, Quincy."
"Anything you need me to do?" Justin asked, still standing there with concern written all over his face.
"Yeah," I said, running a hand over my head, trying to think straight. "Get our legal team on standby. I want them ready to move the second we get a plan together. And keep this under wraps—no leaks, no one outside this room hears about it."
"Got it," Justin nodded, already reaching for his phone to make the calls.
As Justin started dialing, I leaned back in my chair, my mind racing. This was the last thing I needed with the launch coming up. Why the fuck was Ryan with her ex? Why hadn't she told me he'd put his hands on her, or that she was even seeing him?
"Justin, where's Keith now?" I asked, barely keeping my cool.
"My sources say he's in jail. They're not sure if he'll make bail since he's violated the restraining order multiple times."
"Jail's probably the safest place for him right now," I said, trying to keep my cool. "Look, Justin, I've gotta go pick up my daughter from Ryan's parents' house. Kelcy's calling her scandal fixer. In the meantime, make sure everything with the launch stays on track. We've put in too much work to let this shit screw it up."
On my way to pick up Kali, it hit me that I needed to talk to Ryan alone in case shit hit the fan. So, I called her parents to ask if they could keep the baby for another night. Her mom answered and told me they were already aware of the video. She added that Ryan's dad and brother were planning to go after Keith.
"No, tell them not to do anything, I have this handed. Have you talked to Ryan?" I asked concerned.
"No, and I'm worried about my baby." Dana tearfully replied.
"Don't worry, I'll find her. I'll talk to you soon." As I hung up, I got a message from Kelcy said everything was clear, and it was gonna cost me $500K for the damage control.
