Chapter Six - Myths vs the Truth

NOVA blinked the reality of what Draco was saying had broken the spell with Carlisle. Nova gulped as Harry blinked and before she could speak, Harry's wand was pointed at Alice and her family. The teenager almost sobbed as she looked between the two groups. 

"Why didn't I see this coming?" Nova's heart broke looking at the teenager. Ignoring Harry's wand she headed in the direction of Alice pulling the younger girl in her arms. 

"Harry James Potter put down your wand this instant"  She hissed, Harry seemed to blink in confusion. Nova was blocking the smaller vampire glaring heavily at her brother and Harry. Harry lowered his wand slowly, his knuckles white where he grasped it tightly. "I think" Nova breathed "we should talk" Nova's silver-grey eyes danced between her brother, his boyfriend and the Cullens. Carlisle seemed to agree and he took charge. 

"We should" he replied calmly but with an authoritative tone, his smooth voice sent chills down Nova's spine. Ignoring the feeling of, well she wasn't sure what the feeling was. She looked to Carlisle, his golden eyes meeting hers. "I have an office, you can wait there until we've ended the party" Nova nodded and she let go of Alice, speaking to her in hushed tones. 

"We'll be fine, enjoy your birthday party" she replied in a whisper. Nova followed Carlisle with Harry and Draco following her. They headed up the second flight of stairs to a dark oak wooden door on the left. 

Inside Nova gasped, Carlisle's office was truly beautiful, There were large bookshelves on almost every wall, and large windows that opened up and overlooked the forest that surrounded them. A large fireplace had taken over a large proportion of the back wall, with leather plush sofas and chairs surrounding the hearth. above the fireplace was a large old-fashioned painting. In the centre facing the door they just entered was a large oak desk with a computer and spin chair. A door led to another room, that Nova thought would be the bathroom. Trinkets and personal items were scattered across the fireplace and the work desk.

"Please" Carlisle commented showing them the seat in front of the fire. "make yourselves at home - we will be up shortly" 

Nova nodded sending him a small smile. "thank you" she replied softly placing a piece of hair behind her ear. Draco tutted but Carlisle and Nova ignored him. Carlisle gave a nod, a small smile of his own and then he headed out the door. 

"What was that?" Draco hissed at her, Harry held back a smile as Draco rounded on his sister. 

"What was what?" Nova asked shaking her head. 

"That" he replied "The flirting?...the Thank you" Draco had gone high-pitched to mimic his sister; sounding nothing like his sister. Harry let out a snort of laughter, but the Malfoy twins ignored him. 

"I don't even remotely sound like that... and flirting" Nova snorted, throwing her hands in the air "I was being polite...maybe you should try it" she huffed folding her arms and storming to the closest bookcase filled with books. 

"Polite?" Draco stated in surprise, his voice still slightly high. "They are Vampires...they will tear us apart..we learnt it in school or did you forget our lessons "

"You didn't see their eyes did you?" Nova turned on her heel, her eyes a flame. Anger filled her and even Harry had to step back over so slightly but he pushed through his fear to answer her.

"Their eyes? ...I was too busy making sure they didn't rip us apart" Harry stated standing beside his significant other. 

"Oh my Salazar, Hermione was right." Nova laughed  "You boys are complete morons, their eyes aren't red dickhead they are gold" Harry paused about to argue when he realised that the Cullens did indeed have golden-coloured eyes. Draco huffed but he didn't argue with her...she sighed going back to looking at the books on the shelves. "See dickheads...the pair of you" she muttered picking up a first edition of Alice in Wonderland.
