Chapter One - Forks

FORKS was green. That was Nova's first thought as she drove through the beautiful yet quiet small town. The roads were thicker than what she was used to, She was used to the winding country roads of England and its thick shrubbery and rolling farmlands and fields. Forks was close though, with its constant cover of clouds and almost non-stop rain. Nova almost felt at home.  Almost. Nova found the differences quickly, from the prices of food; to the sheer cost of visiting the hospitals. Nova was lucky that one she was rich and two - she could heal herself with potions and magic.

Nova's new home was a small two-bedroom house just off the highway leading through Forks. Not many people wanted the house as it was a neighbour to the chief of Police house and they shared a backyard. The house that Nova owned was hers and hers alone. Nova pulled her second-hand, red mini copper up the driveway of her home. She was home and Nova, grabbing her handbag, couldn't help but grin as she exited her vehicle. The house had stage green window frames and beautiful wooden panels which were painted white. The dark grey tiled roof matched the Dark front door. Her lawn was cut and trimmed to almost perfection and she had a small front porch around the front. Two Black stone steps lead to the porch and the front door, which Nova climbed happily, she danced along the porch and slipped her key in the lock to unlock it before pushing the door open.

It had opened to a small hallway, on her left was a rounded kitchen with all the latest appliances. Dark tiled floor, and white marble sides with dark wooden cupboards, a double-seated breakfast bar separated the white and grey living room. Two French doors opened up the living room to the back porch and back yard. On her right was a double door of pale wood doors which was her modern minimal office; and just after the office, were carpeted stairs that led to her upper floors which housed her master bedroom, bathroom, and closet (which was turned from a spare room) She also had a washroom just under the stairs, it also houses her familiar Aries, who had come bouncing through, his tail wagging.

''Ello boy" She bent down to greet him, He barked at her and she chuckled shaking her head "Yeah, I know the meeting took a bloody while" He barked again and Nova followed the animal to the kitchen "I guess so" she replied to his question of dinner.

Nova and Aries's relationship was one of closeness. Aries found her crumpled and broken in the battle of Hogwarts, her father had just finished torturing her and he carried her to the lake where he licked her wounds unlocking the deep magic of a familiar; after a lot of studying and research Nova found that Aries was the first male Maledictus (a blood curse which caused a human to be transformed into an animal and unable to transform back) and the pair became inseparable.

Quickly giving him a cold dinner of chicken beef and vegetables, Nova danced around her kitchen, the radio she had left on to keep Aries company blasting throughout the house. Nova prepared herself a chicken salad sandwich, her meeting taking longer than expected and she was hungry.

Nova paused as the front door rang. She didn't know many people in the town only her neighbor Charlie and possibly Cora at the diner, she knew Charlie was at work, and Cora wouldn't know where she lived. Grabbing her wand from the bun she held her hair up, as she pulled her hair came tumbling down her back the ink blue-colored hair shining in the very little sunlight that streamed through her kitchen window. Her doorbell rang again, drowning out the music in her kitchen briefly. Looking down at Aries who just seemed to peer up at her, he wasn't a barker however he wasn't growling so the person behind her front door wasn't a threat. Slowly making her way to her door, she peered through the small peephole. It didn't reveal much so she had to open the door.Herr wand planted firmly against the wooden door as she peered around it.

There on her porch was a surprising figure; a real surprising figure. Gasping Nova, dropped her wand and pulled her front door open wider.

"Harry" She called softly in surprise at the tall man who grinned down at her and opened his arms. Harry was a tall man, with broad shoulders, bright emerald green eyes, and ink-black hair which was sticking up in all directions.

"Do I get a hug?" he asked her, and she squealed softly and dived into his arms. Harry smelt of burnt wood and fresh air. He also smelt faintly of the aftershave he always wore. "Nice to see you Nov" he replied roughly. Nova pulled away from the wizard and her friend and the pair stepped inside the warm house.

"Hey, boy" Harry greeted Aries who sat patiently behind Nova, the witch didn't even notice that her familiar had followed her. Aries barked in greeting before disappearing up the stairs - no doubt going to nap on Nova's bed. Harry followed Nova into the kitchen where she prepared two mugs of coffee; flicking on the kettle as she grabbed the sugar bowl.  "So this isn't a social call" Harry commented sliding onto the stool at her breakfast bar, Nova paused in making the tea, placing the sugar on the counter in front of Harry; and Looking at Harry she snorted.

"I gathered that, Potter" she replied with her typical Malfoy smirk. Harry had a brief moment of flashbacks at Hogwarts before grinning at her. Harry shook his head and watched as she went to the fridge for the cream and repeated the action as she did with the sugar placing it in front of the wizard.

"Seriously Nova" Harry replied seriously; he was what Nova called 'Auror Potter mode' and he was not any fun. "I've heard some rumours within the wizarding world" Nova sighed softly; the kettle boiling covered her sigh; She poured two coffees and placed the kettle back before turning and sliding a mug to Harry. She grabbed the spare stool and slid it around the bar so she sat opposite Harry, the cream and sugar between them. There was a brief pause of silence as she and Harry made their coffees to their liking. (Harry's being cream one sugar, Nova's being two with cream).

"I don't care for England's wizarding world, anymore Harry" Nova commented as she continued the conversation. "They gave their opinion of me at the trial" Harry nodded, he remembered both their horror and surprise at Nova's so-called trial.

"I know," Harry said so softly that Nova almost missed it. "But this will concern you" he replied and Nova raised her mug to her lips, her perfect eyebrows raising. Harry paused as he tried to find the right words. "Your father" he winced as Nova's dark eyes narrowed on him, He saw her breath hitch and she shook as Harry spoke. "He is no longer in Askaban." Harry watched as Nova's eyes widened, her mug slowly slipping from her hands and crashing onto the floor as it missed the counter smashing against the dark tiled floor.

"He managed to escape"
