Chapter Ten - The Past is Not Forgotten

HIDDEN behind a painting of a frost-covered rose lay Nova's refuge. This sanctuary was her escape from paradise. Here, she could practice magic without fear of consequences. Harry, Draco, and Hermione had put in many hours of hard work to perfect it before Nova's arrival, and it was Harry who found her now. It had been weeks since her date with Carlisle; Nova had been falling harder and harder each day they met for Coffee; Draco had often fought with Nova on the subject; Harry could understand as Draco feared losing his twin sister, but he could understand Nova's need for happiness; it scared him that the twins haven't spoken in two weeks and Harry had enough; he had called reinforcement and they were currently waiting downstairs.

Harry let out a long sigh, his eyes scanning the busy lab. It was unlike any he had seen in school—organised yet chaotic, with Nova being the only one who seemed to know where everything was. He carefully manoeuvred to avoid knocking anything important or expensive as he made his way to the back. Nova, perched on a ladder, had a clipboard floating beside her, a beautiful sparkling royal blue peacock feathered quill jotting down notes as she mumbled and moved bottles.

"Harry I refused to be in the same room as him" She stated loudly - not even moving away from the high shelf or even looking at the elder wizard. Harry sighed and spotted the floating orb, it was a clear picture of the hallway of the house. It meant Nova had seen him coming through her magical door.

"I know Nov" the Green-eyed Wizard replied. "Draco's adamant that he'll speak to you when you dump him" Nova let out a long sigh, replacing the small bottles she carefully climbed down the ladder, the clipboard and quill floating to a space on the busy desk.

"We aren't even dating," Nova responded, crossing her arms over her chest. She wore ripped skinny jeans, a navy blue tee tucked in, and a stained red apron. Her hair was tied in a messy bun atop her head. Her eyes were distant, so hurt. Not talking to her twin had caused her to hurt and Harry hated it.

"I get it I do - but he is just protecting you" Harry tried to explain, He was so glad he was an only child at this point.

"No, he is trying to control my life ...like our father" Harry paused as he rounded on Nova.

"Draco is not like your father," he snapped. "He is nothing like him." Nova was ed at the angry outburst. Harry sighed, running a hand through his already messy hair. "Sorry," he mumbled. "I just... Draco is trying... you are trying. I get it. What you went through, you deserve to be happy."

"Then let me be happy - vampire or not, I am tired of this bigony when it comes to Vampires. The laws passed for Salazar stakes

"Carlisle could tear you apart without even blinking," a third voice chimed in, and Nova spun around to see her brother. His eyes were dull, his hair floppy and unkempt, the bond taking its toll.

"He hasn't done it yet," Nova argued, her patience wearing thin. "You know what?" she snapped, having finally had enough. The argument had dragged on for the last three exhausting weeks. "I am done," she declared, stomping her foot, tears welling in her eyes. "Done with all of this." Harry watched in silence as Nova stormed from the lab.

Nova felt a surge of anger and pain. She had embraced Draco and Harry; why couldn't they accept her? She and Carlisle hadn't yet defined their relationship, though they met nearly every day for coffee and genuinely enjoyed each other's company. So what if one of them was an immortal? Nova sniffled, wiping away her tears. She didn't know where she was headed, just that she needed to leave the house—the house she bought, the house she worked on, and now, she's the one walking away from it. How was that fair?
