Chapter Eight - Escape and Weddings

CARLISLE groaned as he woke; He was in darkness, his golden eyes adjusting quickly. He could smell damp, blood and rotting flesh and it was difficult to try and not to gag. Standing he peered around there wasn't much to go on, he could hear a faint dripping of water. A faint heartbeat caught his attention as he tried to narrow it down; he realised that it was several floors above him. His pale hand felt around the wet concrete walls and the cold rusty bars. He made little work of the bars, escaping effortlessly.

He realised he was in a dungeon of some sort; cells were on either side of him, the dripping water was from a rusted pipe along the ceiling, and there was a steal door that was at the end of the long corridor; slowly and quietly he made his way to the door, using his vampire strength he broke the handle; the door squeaked softly against the quiet and he paused as he made sure it wasn't heard. Stone steps lead up to a room, the light flickering above him Carlisle guessed it was candles and the smell of burning wax confirmed this as he kept to the darkness as he climbed.

The soft sounds of voices had caught his attention. Although they were several floors away, he could still hear them as if he were in the room with them.

"Are you sure she'll come?" a voice croaked as if they hadn't used it in a while.

"I'm sure" came the smooth reply "The muggle women confirmed this" Confused Carlisle edged further finding the voices as they got louder; He hadn't encountered anything which he was glad however the place he was in reminded him of the Manor. Where the hell was he?

"We're to believe the word of a muggle?" Came the snarky reply, there was a pause before the same voice groaned "S-s-sorry" Carlisle climbed the stairs silently, they were large, covered in a layer of dust. As he approached the upper floors he could hear the whistling of wind. Peering outside a cracked large window he saw the full moon, bright and round. The clouds danced lazily across the ink-black sky. Pulling away from the window he followed the voices, now much louder and clearer.

"Sir, if she doesn't come what do we do with the thing in the dungeon?"

"We kill it; the muggle said this should do it" Carlisle almost burst into laughter as he heard a heavy thud, there was a discrete scent of gunpowder.

"What is it?" the first voice commented

"A gun" There was a pause, "I think- that muggle was quick to give it to us"

Carlisle wondered who this 'muggle' was; his thoughts were interrupted a voice stated quickly "Isn't there more though sir?" Carlisle held a breath he didn't need, "There are five isn't there?"

"We kill them too" Carlisle couldn't breathe, his world was spinning as he slowly counted to a thousand, a thought crossing his mind what if they succeed? There was a tapping sound, that Carlisle was familiar with, an owl at a window, and the sound of a chair scrapping across a wooden surface had Carlisle wincing, heavy footfalls had echoed then a sound of a creak as a window was pushed open and hoot as the owl flew into the room. There was a sudden sound of paper tearing and a quiet pause then a heavy chuckle.

"Merlin's beard" came the sound of laughter "it worked, the blood traitor is coming here" Carlisle paused his eyes drifting to the broken window, a prayer going out to anyone who would listen.

"Best check our guest" The footfalls came closer and Carlisle paused using his speed to enter an empty room, pausing only to see out the crack in the doorway. "Stay here" the voice had ordered, he was tall, his back to Carlisle, the vampire felt the heat from where he stood in the dark. A fire crackling had given the hall a glow and the tall man had shifted as he spoke. "I need you to see our other guest" Carlisle hadn't heard or sensed anyone in the house, so who could they be talking about? The male shifted and turned pausing only briefly before sweeping down the hall the same way that Carlisle had come from. The vampire now had two choices, follow or stay.

Making his mind up Carlisle followed the tall man, he was skinny, tall, taller than himself, a prudent smell coming from him, Carlisle's nose had itched as he followed closely. The man paused as he took in the broken steel door, before the wizard could turn around, Carlisle effortlessly kicked the man down the stone steps to the dungeon. A cry echoed and bounced across the damp room, and Carlisle was surprised to find himself less affected by the sound than he would usually be.

"Who are you?" he asked gently, his voice soft, but dangerously low, his black eyes darkening.

The man shivered, using the little strength he had to slowly back away from the vampire. "I-I- I'm here on orders" he blurted out, his eyes wide and his heart thudding.

"Whose?" the blonde vampire had growled out. When the wizard didn't comply quickly enough Carlisle used both his speed and strength to speed to the wizard and hold him up by the neck. "Whose's orders?" The wizard choked, his face going purple quickly. "You know" Carlisle stated quietly almost in a whisper "I could just squeeze" He demonstrated by squeezing a little more, and the wizard choked "And your whole head would just go pop" he replied, using his free hand to demonstrate a popping motion.  Carlisle's inner vampire purring, egging Carlisle to do it. Carlisle was in so deep, his vampire just taking over as the weak creature before him as he struggled for air. He didn't even notice the sounds around him, his senses fully on 'hunt mode'.

It wasn't until a familiar scent engulfed him, that the rush of emotions crashed into him and he roared as he let go and crashed into the stone wall. Sliding down the wall, he ignored those around him, a pair of warm hands engulfed his head and he peered up at the most beautiful grey eyes he had ever seen.

"Carlisle"  Nova commented softly as if she were approaching a wild animal, suppose that she was."Come to me, my love"

"The wizard?" he croaked out and she peered behind her, blocking his view, the vampire so trapped in trying to lock his angry vampire self away, didn't see Emmett's sad look and the shake of his head. Nova smiled standing and raising her wand, she muttered a spell.

"Avada Kadarva" The room was engulfed in a bright green light. The man's body raised and then slammed down again with a loud crack. She gave Emmett a knowing look and the larger vampire nodded quietly getting down to Carlisle's level.

"Come on Pops...We have a wedding to get to"
