Two years had passed since Emma left Rivertown behind, choosing to start anew in the bustling city of New York right after her college graduation. Her last year in college has been tumultuous, students talk about her being the reason behind the cancellation of Lily and Jake's arranged wedding plus the recurring memories of her relationship with Jake and the painful way it had ended.

Though her friends Jess, Icy, Becca, Ryan, and Ashton were her steadfast support during that time, the absence of Lily, her best friend, and Jake, now her ex-boyfriend, left a void that was impossible to fill. The arranged marriage between Jake and Lily, orchestrated by Jake's father, had been shocking—especially since the bride-to-be was her closest friend. The summer before her final year of college had been fraught with tension, and Emma was caught in a battle she knew she could never win.

In the end, Emma made the heart-wrenching decision to break up with Jake, knowing it was the only way to protect herself and those she cared about. The breakup was agonizing, but she was certain it was the right thing to do. On the day of Jake and Lily's wedding, news broke that the ceremony had been called off. Lily had sent Emma a final message, explaining that she had walked away from the arranged marriage because she knew it wasn't right. Jake left as well.

Now, two years later, Emma found herself back in Rivertown, the place where it had all begun.

Present Day

Emma stood on the familiar shoreline, her thoughts drifting as the waves filled her ears. She was lost in memories of the past when Ashton, fresh from a surf session, walked up to her.

"Penny for your thoughts?" he asked, his voice pulling her back to the present.

Emma turned to face him, a small smile playing on her lips. "Just thinking about how much has changed... and how much hasn't," she replied, her tone reflective.

Ashton nodded, understanding the unspoken complexities of her words. "It's good to have you back, Emma. Rivertown missed you."

She looked back at the ocean, the waves continuing their endless dance, and for the first time in a long while, she felt ready to face whatever awaited her in this place she once called home.
