After dinner with his family, Ashton drove to the beach, his refuge where the world slowed down, giving him space to breathe. The quiet waves and soft moonlight brought him a sense of peace. He parked his car and walked to the shoreline, letting the cool night air wash over him as he sat on the sand, lost in thought.

The events of the day weighed heavily on him—Emma's pained expression, the shock of the arranged marriage, and the loyalty he felt toward both Jake and Emma. He replayed the scene at the beach, seeing Emma's heartbreak again. The facade he usually kept up was slipping, and he felt a deep ache in his chest, one he had been ignoring for years.

Emma had always been special to him. From the moment they met, he knew she was different. But he had never told her how he felt, content just being by her side, even if it meant hiding his true feelings. Now, sitting alone on the beach, he realized how much it hurt to see her in pain, knowing he couldn't do anything to help.

As he stared at the waves, Ashton noticed a car hastily stop on the road. It was Emma's. Concerned, he walked over and waited for her to come out, but she didn't. Worried, Ashton knocked on the window and was devastated to see her wiping away tears.

Ashton smiled gently at her, concern in his eyes. "Hey, I was taking a walk when I saw your car parked here. I thought I'd check if you were okay."

Emma nodded, trying to compose herself. She was about to say something, but Ashton cut her off. "It's okay to tell the truth, Emma. It's okay not to be okay."

Emma took a deep breath and glanced at him. "I'm not okay, Ashton. Everything's just been... overwhelming. I don't even know why I'm here."

Ashton's eyes softened. "You don't have to explain if you're not ready. But I want you to know that it's okay to feel this way. Sometimes talking helps."

Emma sighed. "I just need to get away from everything. It's been a rough day."

Ashton remembered the café his mom mentioned during dinner. "There's a new café uphill that just opened. It's known for its calming ambiance and stunning views. I thought maybe it could offer you a little peace."

Emma looked at him, curiosity piqued. "A new café? I didn't know about that. What's it called?"

"It's called 'Serenity Overlook,'" Ashton explained. "The reviews say it's a great place to unwind and clear your head. How about we check it out together? It might be just what you need right now." He lied—he had never visited the place, but if it was for Emma, he could swallow the white lie.

Emma nodded. "That sounds nice. I could use a change of scenery."

"Great," Ashton said with a reassuring smile. "I'll drive us there. You don't have to worry about anything."

Emma looked relieved. "Thank you, Ashton. I appreciate it. I was about to ask you to drive as I'm too preoccupied."

Ashton chuckled lightly. "No problem. Just let me know if you want to talk or if you prefer to be quiet. I'm here for whatever you need."

Emma offered a weak smile. "Thanks. I think I'll take you up on that. I just need a little distraction right now."

As they drove to the café, Ashton kept the conversation light, trying to lift her spirits. "You know, Emma," Ashton said, glancing at her as he navigated the curves, "I've always admired your surfing skills. You really made an impression when you first arrived in Rivertown."

Emma managed a faint smile. "Really? Thanks, Ashton. I didn't think I stood out that much."

Ashton nodded, his eyes focused on the road. "Oh, definitely. You caught on so quickly and added a lot to the group. It's not easy to master the waves as fast as you did."

Emma hesitated before asking, "So, Ashton, what's the story with you and Icy? I've noticed you two are always together. I even saw her holding your hand once. There's definitely a closeness there."

Ashton was surprised by the question and couldn't help but chuckle. "Ah, I see you've noticed. I don't think I ever mentioned it, but Icy and I are actually twins."

Emma's eyes widened in surprise. "Seriously? I had no idea! We've been friends for years."

Ashton smiled. "Yeah, we're twins. It's probably why we're so close. We just have that deep connection."

Emma laughed lightly through her tears. "I guess I never noticed."

Ashton chuckled. "Probably because you're always with Jake."

Ashton regretted mentioning Jake as Emma went silent. He cursed himself inwardly.

"I'm sorry if I said something wrong," Ashton quickly apologized.

Emma shook her head, her voice soft. "No, it's okay. It's just... a lot to take in."

When they arrived at Serenity Overlook, the café offered a breathtaking view of the ocean, bathed in moonlight. The ambiance was calm and inviting—a perfect escape from the chaos Emma had been feeling.

As they watched the marvelous view from the café balcony, Emma suddenly spoke. "You know, these past few days have been really tough."

Ashton looked at her with understanding eyes. "Do you want to talk about it?"

Emma hesitated, her voice trembling. "It's just so overwhelming. I don't know how to handle it all."

Ashton leaned back, his gaze full of sorrow for Emma. "Life has a way of throwing unexpected challenges at us. It's never easy, especially when it involves people we care about. But sometimes, these painful moments reveal our true strength."

Emma stared at the horizon, and Ashton couldn't help but reach out to her hand. "Take your time to process this. Allow yourself to feel the pain, but don't let it consume you. You're stronger than you realize, and you'll find a way through this."

Emma nodded, her eyes welling up with tears. "Thank you, Ashton."

Ashton smiled warmly. "Anytime, Emma. Remember, you have friends who care about you and are here to support you."
