The announcement hung in the air for a moment before Richard and Eleanor exchanged delighted glances. Richard chuckled, giving his son a knowing look. "Well, it's about time! We've seen the way you look at her, son."

Eleanor reached out and gently squeezed Emma's hand. "Welcome to the family, Emma. We couldn't be happier."

Before Emma could respond, a chorus of surprised gasps and cheers erupted from behind her. She turned to see her friends—Jess, Ryan, Icy, Becca, and a few others—standing nearby, all wearing expressions of pure delight.

"Did we just hear that right?" Jess called out, her eyes wide with excitement. "Did Ashton just say 'girlfriend'?"

Icy stepped forward, her face glowing with happiness. "I knew it! I knew something was going on between you two!" She shot her brother a teasing look. "Took you long enough, Ashton."

Ryan gave Ashton a playful shove. "Man, you've been holding out on us! Congratulations, both of you. You're perfect together."

Becca clasped her hands together, her voice filled with warmth. "You two are meant to be. We're so happy for you, Emma."

Emma blushed, feeling both overwhelmed and elated by the outpouring of love and support from her friends. She glanced up at Ashton, who looked just as happy, his arm still securely around her.

As they continued to chat and celebrate, Emma's gaze drifted over the bustling café. The place was alive with energy, every corner filled with familiar faces and the joyful sounds of people enjoying themselves. But as she scanned the room, her eyes landed on someone standing near the entrance, watching from a distance. It was Jake.

He was standing apart from the crowd, his expression a complex mix of emotions—regret, longing, and acceptance all mingling on his face. For a brief moment, their eyes met, and time seemed to freeze. There was so much unsaid between them, so much left unresolved, but Emma knew deep down that she had moved on.

Jake offered her a small, sad smile before turning away and disappearing into the crowd. Emma's heart ached for a moment, but she quickly pushed the feeling aside. This was her moment, her dream come true, and she wouldn't let anything take that away.

Ashton noticed the shift in her mood and gently squeezed her hand. "Are you okay?" he asked, concern lacing his voice.

Emma looked up at him, the warmth of his presence anchoring her. She smiled and nodded. "I'm more than okay."

She leaned in and gave Ashton a quick kiss, ignoring the playful cheers and whistles from their friends. This was her life now—this café, these people, this new chapter with Ashton by her side. She wouldn't trade it for anything.

As the day unfolded, the café continued to buzz with energy. The soothing blend of ocean waves and the rich scent of coffee created an ambiance that drew people in and made them feel at home. Customers marveled at the cozy décor, the surfboards on display, and the vibrant painting by Icy that adorned one of the walls.

Near the counter, a group of customers gathered around a tray of cookies, their faces lighting up with delight. Becca, who had been helping Emma in the kitchen, had baked her famous cookies—crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and filled with gooey chocolate chunks.

"These are amazing!" one customer exclaimed, savoring a bite. "I've never tasted anything like them."

Another nodded enthusiastically. "They're the perfect mix of sweet and salty. I could eat these all day!"

Becca, standing nearby, blushed at the compliments. Emma caught her eye and smiled. "Becca, I think we've found one of the café's signature dishes. Your cookies are a hit!"

Becca grinned, her cheeks pink with pride. "I'm so glad everyone likes them. It's incredible to see people enjoying something I made."

As more customers lined up for a taste, a group of surfers walked in, still damp from the ocean. They were regulars at the beach, and the moment they spotted the café, they knew they had to check it out.

"Hey, this place is awesome!" one of the surfers called out as he approached the counter. "The vibe is perfect. And those cookies... I've gotta try some!"

Emma laughed, handing him a couple of cookies. "Go ahead! There's plenty to go around."

The surfers quickly became part of the lively crowd, their laid-back energy blending seamlessly with the café's beachy atmosphere. They struck up conversations with other customers, sharing stories of their latest waves and making plans for their next surf session.

As the day went on, Ryan and Jess approached Emma, their faces glowing with excitement. Jess could barely contain her enthusiasm as she looked around the café.

"Emma, this place is amazing," Jess said, her voice brimming with admiration. "The atmosphere, the design—everything is perfect."

Ryan nodded, wrapping an arm around Jess's shoulders. "We've been talking, and we think this would be the perfect spot for one of our wedding receptions. What do you think?"

Emma's eyes widened in surprise and joy. "Are you serious? I would love that! It would be such an honor."

Jess beamed. "We're serious! This place feels like home, and we want to celebrate with our closest friends and family here."

Ryan grinned. "Plus, we can't get enough of Becca's cookies. They've got to be part of the reception."

Becca, overhearing the conversation, blushed again and waved them off playfully. "I'd be happy to bake as many cookies as you need."

Their conversation was interrupted as Icy walked over, her face glowing with pride. "Emma, have you seen how incredible your café looks with my painting on the wall?" she asked, gesturing to the large canvas that dominated one side of the room.

The painting was a breathtaking depiction of the ocean at sunset, with waves gently rolling under a sky streaked with vibrant oranges, pinks, and purples. It captured the serene beauty of the beach perfectly, reflecting the essence of Surfer's Brew Café.

"Icy, it's beautiful," Emma said, her voice filled with admiration. "It adds so much to the atmosphere. I can't thank you enough."

Icy grinned. "I'm just glad you like it. This place needed a bit of art, right?"

Ashton, who had been chatting with some customers, joined them. "The painting really pulls everything together, Ice," he said, using his affectionate nickname for his sister. "And the surfboards—Lily's and yours—are the perfect touch."

Emma glanced at the corner of the café where two surfboards were displayed. One was Lily's, a reminder of the friend who had left town, and the other was Emma's first surfboard, a relic of her early days in the water. Both were arranged beautifully, a tribute to the friendships and memories that had shaped Emma's life.

"Lily would love seeing her board here," Emma said softly, her voice tinged with nostalgia. "It's like she's still a part of this place."

Icy nodded thoughtfully. "Lily's spirit is here. And so is yours, Emma. This café reflects all the things you love—the ocean, surfing, and good friends. It's a place where everyone can feel at home."

Emma smiled, a deep sense of fulfillment settling over her. As she looked around at her friends, the happy customers, and the café that had finally come to life, she knew that Surfer's Brew Café was more than just a business. It was a place filled
