A week later
Wesley was finally home, recovering from his injuries. Despite the doctors' warnings to take it easy, he was determined to contribute to the household and return to some semblance of normalcy.
Wesley struggled to manage the stovetop in the kitchen, his hands still shaky and his movements clumsy. He attempted to stir a soup pot but found himself unable to keep up with the task. The pot wobbled dangerously on the burner, and Wesley's face showed signs of frustration.
Lucy and Zoe had been keeping a watchful eye on him, their concern evident. Zoe entered the kitchen just as Wesley almost tipped the pot over.
"Wesley, stop!" Zoe said firmly, stepping in front of him. "You're not ready for this yet."
Wesley looked up, a mixture of embarrassment and stubbornness in his eyes. "I just wanted to make us a meal. I can't sit around doing nothing all day."
Lucy came up beside him, her expression softening as she gently placed her hands on his shoulders. "I appreciate the thought, but you're still recovering. You need to rest."
Wesley sighed, letting his shoulders slump in defeat. "I just want to help. I hate feeling useless."
Lucy guided him away from the stove, leading him toward the living room. "You're not useless. You've already been through so much. Right now, you need to focus on getting better."
She helped him onto the couch and tucked a blanket around him. Wesley settled in with a sigh, looking up at her with gratitude.
"Thank you," he said quietly. "I'm just so tired of being weak."
Zoe sat down next to him, offering a reassuring smile. "You're not weak. You're healing. It takes time, and that's okay."
Lucy nodded in agreement, taking a seat beside him. "We'll take care of things here. Just focus on getting better. You don't have to do it all."
Wesley leaned back against the cushions, feeling a mix of relief and frustration. "I guess I just need to be patient."
"You do," Zoe said gently. "And we'll be here with you every step of the way."
Lucy leaned in, giving Wesley a tender kiss on the cheek. "We love you, Wes. We're in this together."
Wesley smiled, his eyes reflecting the love and support surrounding him. He settled more comfortably on the couch, allowing himself to relax as Lucy and Zoe moved to handle the meal and other tasks. The warmth of their presence and the comforting rhythm of their daily life began to ease his worries, reminding him that recovery was a journey they would navigate together.
Wesley suddenly remembered something and said, "Lucy, can you help me get something from my car?"
Lucy looked at him with concern. "Wes, you're not driving anywhere. You need to rest."
Wesley shook his head. "I'm not planning to drive. I just need to grab some things from the trunk."
Lucy sighed but agreed, helping him up. They walked to the car together, and Lucy opened the trunk to reveal a collection of medical supplies.
She raised an eyebrow, eyeing the items. "What's all this for?"
Wesley explained, "If we mix these ingredients and use them in a bath, they'll form a kind of therapeutic wrap. It speeds up healing. I've used it before, and it worked wonders."
Lucy frowned, clearly skeptical. "I don't know, Wesley. It sounds risky."
Wesley's expression grew earnest. "I used it frequently as an assassin. It's effective. I just can't sit around anymore; I'm going stir-crazy."
