With Wesley
Wesley sprinted downstairs, gripping his Safari Arms Matchmaster tightly.
When he reached the ground floor, he saw Kyle and John grappling over a gun. Wesley recognized Kyle as someone seeking revenge for his brother's death and shouted, "Hey! LAPD, drop the weapon!"
John yelled back, "No! Wes, stay back!"
Without hesitation, Wesley fired, executing a precision shot that curved the bullet and disarmed Kyle. John seized the opportunity to punch Kyle, but the blow didn't incapacitate him.
As Kyle lunged at John, Wesley intervened, grabbing Kyle and executing a powerful throw that sent him crashing through the glass slider door.
Wesley aimed his gun at Kyle and ordered, "Don't move!"
Seeing Kyle was motionless, Wesley cautiously approached, keeping his weapon trained on him, and checked for a pulse.
"He's alive, just unconscious," Wesley announced as he looked over at John.
"Johnny, are you okay?" Wesley asked, concern evident in his voice.
John nodded weakly, but his strength gave out, causing him to slump against the wall. Wesley hurried to his side, offering support and helping him to a more stable position.
Wesley said, "I'm calling 911 now."
John nodded and replied, "Yeah, go ahead."
Wesley holstered his gun and pulled out his phone. He dialed 911 and spoke into the receiver.
"Hello, this is Officer Wesley Wick, badge number 34587. My brother has just been attacked at his home. The suspect is in custody—unconscious but breathing. We need an ambulance at 5439 Chautauqua. Thank you."
After ending the call, Wesley looked at John and said, "We need to wait for backup to arrive. They'll handle the scene and take Kyle into custody."
John, still shaken, asked, "What should we do until then?"
Wesley replied, "Just try to stay calm. We'll need to give statements to the officers when they get here. In the meantime, let's make sure everything is secure and stay out of the way."
John nodded, trying to steady his breathing. "Thanks, Wes. I just—I didn't expect this."
Wesley placed a reassuring hand on John's shoulder. "I know, Johnny. It's going to be okay. We'll get through this."
They both waited in the dimly lit room, the tension hanging thick in the air as they listened for the approaching sirens.
Wesley quickly put handcuffs on to ensure that Kyle was secure.
Later
Medics and officers arrived at John's house, swiftly attending to his injuries. Zoe was also on the scene, concern etched on her face.
She approached John and asked, "Are you sure you don't need to go to the hospital?"
John shook his head. "No, I'm fine."
Zoe's gaze shifted to Wesley, who was nearby. "Good thing you got that gun away from him."
John interjected, "It wasn't me, ma'am. Wesley made an incredible shot to disarm him."
Zoe turned to Wesley with a grateful smile. "I'm glad you both had each other's backs. And I'm relieved to see you're not hurt."
Wesley, with a hint of amusement, said, "Honey, I'm right here. You could've just asked me directly or noticed that I'm not being checked out by a medic."
