Chapter 6

It was the next day in school and everything seemed to be going on alright.

You can hear the noise of lockers, students and teachers as they walk around preparing for class.

In the boys bathroom, Jay came out of one of the toilets after taking a piss, he stood by the sink as he washed his hands. There was a giant mirror in front of him, he stood in front of it as he arranged his trousers.

There was a noise from another toilet door opening, Jay raised his head and to his surprise, he saw Danny's reflection on the mirror.

Danny stood in surprise and you can feel the tension between them and their hearts beating like they have just been booed by a ghost. They gazed into each other's eyes like they've never seen each other before, practically waiting for one to break the silence.

" oh hey what's up man" said Jay as he dried his hands
"hey stranger, I thought you were going to run off and ignore me forever Danny replied sarcastically as he walked towards the sink to wash his hands.

"Come on man you can't blame me for running, I panicked and I didn't know what to say, besides you were also avoiding me, so we are even"

"I was only avoiding you cause you were avoiding me, I wanted us to talk about it like grown-ups and besides we were just high and we did dumb things, I mean girls do stuff like that all the time if they are high so let's just call it off, cause I know I'm not gay"

" yeah of course we were high, I know we will never do dumb shit like that in our right senses "

"Yeah Jay that's what I've always wanted to tell you, we don't need to beat ourselves over it"

Danny and Jay managed to convince themselves that it was all because of the alcohol.

" you know what Danny it feels really good to finally get this off my chest I mean we just needed to talk" said Jay and he gave him a slight smile

Yeah, and I miss hanging out with you so much I mean I was actually miserable without you can you imagine that? Danny replied teasingly
"Haha very funny and now I can sleep well at night, Jay smiled. There was a bit of an awkward silence for a moment. Ok so now that we're cool do you want to go for practice later after school? Jay added and Danny replied ok with so much relief. He felt so happy that he finally got it off his chest.

They walked out of the bathroom having hope that everything would go back to normal.

Bonnie and Zack walked up to Claire, she stood in front of her locker in the hallway searching for a particular textbook. They met up with her and greeted her.

Hi Bonnie, hi Zack have you guys seen Jay asked Claire.
No we haven't and we need your help getting him and Danny to talk said Bonnie.
"Okay what do you want me to do cause I've been trying to get them to talk but Jay is being stubborn" Claire was also affected by Jay's behavior the past few days and was ready to do anything to help.

"Okay just text Jay to meet up with you in the science lab and Bonnie will text Danny to come help her that she fell and she is bleeding. Explained Zack.

Okay, that will cool I'm in said Claire as she brought her phone out of her handbag.

Claire raised her head just to see Jay and Danny walking towards them.

Wait is it just me or I'm seeing Jay and Danny coming towards us said Claire in surprise.

Bonnie and Zack turned their necks just to see them behind them.

Hi guys said Danny as they came closer to them

Zack, Bonnie and Claire stared at each other in perplexity

Uhm you guys are talking now? Asked Bonnie

Oh yeah, all we needed to do was just talk and understand each other said Jay as he smiled and put his arm over Danny's shoulder.

Wait so that's it, you guys are cool and back to being buddies Bonnie asked all curious.

Yes Bonnie we are buddies again Danny replied her. Danny knew his sister was a nosy person so he just wanted to leave her presence before she asked any more questions.

Ok that's cool, I'm really happy things are back to normal said Claire as she hugged Jay.

Wait, wait...

Bonnie searched their faces fishing for answers that weren't there

"so what was the cause of the fight in the first place she asked curiously.

Danny and Jay looked at each other, knowing very well they had to give a relevant answer and then Danny responded" You won't believe the silly thing. giving a fake laugh he continued"I mean we were both just been petty. So Bonnie you know how I and Jay have always said we will go to the same college after graduation?

Uhm yeah she replied.

Jay looked a bit confused cause he had no idea where the story was heading.
"Okay so that morning we were talking about our college applications and he said he wants to go to another college and I got pissed, I know ...I know I was being petty but I mean we've been planning this for all our lives and all of a sudden he wants to go to another college in a different country it's ridiculous, then he got pissed that I couldn't support his decision and I told him I'm not going to talk to him until he changes his mind, so he left the house that early morning.

Wow, so that was it? Don't you guys think you were being a bit too dramatic asked Bonnie

Yes Bonnie that's why we decided to talk things out said Jay and now he's ready to support my decision because he is my best friend.
Danny and Jay gave each other the that was close look and smiled.

Oh well, I thought it was something else said Bonnie.
What did you think it was asked Jay curiously

"No nothing just thought it was something a bit more serious"
" well it wasn't and everything is back to normal"

Bonnie and Zack looked at each other and smiled as things didn't go as they planned at all.

Everyone went to class with a sigh of relief.

Okay, maybe we overthought this whole thing said Zack and they both laughed.

Everything seems to have gone back to normal, Danny and Jay tried to catch up with a lot of things they missed out on, they went for practice, rode bikes together, played video games and other things but they began to feel more and more conscious about every touch, every stare became awkward and can't seem to shake off the fact that they kissed each other and no matter how they try the awkwardness was there. They stopped sleeping over at each other's houses to avoid unsettling situations and the fact that they didn't hate what happened made feelings grow differently.
