"Oh, come on, Vlance! Stop being stubborn!"

"No. No. Can you just, please, hear me out first?"

"Vlance, we don't have time for this!"

Nobody wants to listen to me. I know that my brother loves me and that he's just only doing everything to protect me, but I felt like there's this tiny gap between us-he never listens to me.

He protects me on his own point of judgement, in a manner that getting away with it, is all that matter to him, without even considering the side of my story, like I'm the bad guy here. It hurts because I'm the real victim but my own brother think the other way.

I sigh on the verge to surrender; besides, we all have one goal-to wrap this case up.

"What will happen to the company if I lose?" I was worried for Duke as well as my dad and my brother. They're probabily the subject of ridicule by now.

Right after I got married to Duke, the merging of both companies took place. Both our families holds the majority of shares. Duke's father was elected by the shareholders to be the chairman of the board while Dad was elected by the Board to be the CEO of the company. Duke was elected as the President while Vladimir was elected as the COO.

"The company will face a huge crisis, much worst then how it's facing right now."

"This is b-sh-t! I'm not part of the business. I'm not even working for the for company! Why would that even be an issue for the company?"

"Because you're part of the family and whatever scandal that may be, it can seriously compromise the reputation of our family firm."

"Did you know? We're starting to lose our consumer's confidence with our brands and services; they felt betrayed, planning to protest and boycott..."

"...The external stakeholders' expectations had been broken, and the auditors and regulatory committees urged to examine our company's affairs..."

"...Controversies like this can spread easily on social media contagiously, causing negative reverberations on our family business, leading to revenue lost."

"I want an annulment." Kahit labag sa loob ko, kung para ito sa ikabubuti ni Duke para hindi na siya madamay pa. Pamilya ko na lang itatawid ko sa isyung ito.

"Are you even thinking? No! That will only make it even worst. As long as you're married to Duke, his clan will be chained with us to downfall and they will not let that happen."

A thunderstruck of realization hits me. "Vlad, you're doing this only for the reputation of our clan and its standing to the company, isn't it?"

His brief silence confirmed all my suspicions.

"Look, Vlance, because of this issue, there's a huge possibility that the board might not elect me as the next CEO. If Duke is married to you, they would rather choose me, considering his condition."

"Wait. How did you know about his condition?"

"He's a rival and I should know all his weakness and that includes you."

I felt my whole body as if it was stuck in a cement. My jaw clenched.

"Vlad, do you even hear what you're saying? He's your bestfriend, he's my husband, your brother-in-law, he's a family. Why do you see him as rival?"
