DUKE
"Duke, Kamig Vlance." Ariel showed something from my phone which he just borrowed a while ago. We had just arrived at the airport, waiting for Jade to pick us up.
I took back my phone from him so I could see her immediately. I saw a two minutes clip; it was a clip of her performance from one of her TV programs, Kahimig Pinoy. We were not able to watch the episode for today because we have to fly here at the Metro for Kara's Birthday celebration, tonight.
I started the clip from the beginning as I paid attentive waiting for her to come out from the back stage. She was styled with a Moncler in all black leather jacket, ripped jeans, and a pair of combat boots. She's almost thirty six now but she didn't aged that much.
I instantly noticed her eyes were pink and a bit swelling, but because of her makeup, it doesn't look that obvious for her fans to easily mind it. But I can't help worrying.
Everybody was expecting for her to sing but she suddenly approached Liam who was supposed to play the drums. Liam took the electric guitar and went in front the microphone stand and became the vocalist, instead.
Liam started to sing. Vlance on the other hand, took her shades and wore it, covering her eyes. I don't know what's exactly is going on, but I could feel there is something wrong.
Natapos na ang lahat
Nandito pa rin ako
Hetong nakatulala
Sa mundo, sa mundoHindi mo maiisip
Hindi mo makikita
Ang mga pangarap ko
Para sa 'yo, para sa 'yoEven though she was feeling every beats, playing the drumsticks on her fingers: turning, twisting, whisking it away. Still, there is something doesn't put me to placate with ease. Hindi ako mapalagay. I instantly became worried.
Oh-oh, oh, oh
Hindi ko maisip kung wala ka
Oh-oh, oh, oh
Sa buhay koSundan mo ang paghimig na lulan
Na aking pinagtatanto
Sundan mo ang paghimig koThe performace ended. Everybody were having so much having fun except for her. No one noticed her exited the stage, except me. Even though she was wearing shades, it didn't hide that on my keen when I captured a small amount of her eyeliner melted down with her tears, staining her face.
I felt the urge to run to her rescue but I can't. People around us makes it hard for me to come close to her. She can't remember me anymore. I might scare her if I showed up to her out of nowhere. I'm starting to hate myself for not able to do something for her.
"Duke, Jade is here," Kara's face lit up the moment she saw Jade approaching.
He was holding a bouquet of flowers and gave it to her. "Happy birthday, Kaye!" I felt kind a bit of ashamed that Jade was the first to greet her. I admit, I was never a good husband to her.
I never remember giving her anything to any special occasions like her birthday. I may be here for her but emotionally, I was always absent. I felt guilty but she never questioned or complained about my lackings as her husband.

"Kara, happy Birthday! This is my gift for you!" The boys greeted her, giving their gifts to her.
We celebrated her birthday to one of the high-end resorts in Pasay. Thanks to Jade and his friends, they were able to book the place for us without getting my family being banned from service availments.
