Chapter 21

The next day, at the baseball field...

Maire was juggling the ball along with Tobin, close to the field's dugouts.

"So Five..." said Tobin, with a grin. "How did the plant go?"

"Plant?" said Maire, who was puzzled about what Tobin was trying to say. "What plant?"

"Oh you know... The Jordan plantation. I heard about Jordan planting a kiss on your forehead." said Tobin, while smirking and touching her lips and her forehead.

"Where did you hear that from?" said Maire, questioning Tobin.

"Well, I heard it from Mana Iwabuchi, who heard it from Katie McCabe, Kim Little, Stina Blackstenius, Manuela Zinsberger, Caitlin Foord, Lia Walti, Frida Maanum, Laura Wienroither, Rafaelle Souza." said Tobin, continuing with the list. "Lotte Wubben-Moy, Teyah Goldie, Lina Hurtig, Anna Patten, Vivianne Miedema, who heard it from Beth Mead."

"So besides all of those girls that you just named, does anybody else know?" said Maire, asking her.

"Nope. I think that's everyone." said Tobin, with a sheepish grin.

"Anyways, that Jordan incident was supposed to be an accident." said Maire, as she admits. "That, and it was supposed to be a secret."

"Don't worry I promise that I won't tell anyone." said Tobin, zipping her lips. "My lips are sealed."

While hearing Coach Abby's whistle, Coach Mica comes over to Maire and Tobin.

"Girls, take a lap." said Coach Mica, as she tells them. "Since I'll be training you." 

"A lap? Don't you mean two at least. One seems easy." said Tobin, with a grin.

"Nope, one for right now." said Coach Mica, while turning to Five. "You'll have to start conditioning from level zero in order to practice along with the girls again. But for right now, I want you to take a lap along with Tobin."

Maire and Tobin started to take their lap, while Coach Mica ordered them to do so.

After taking their lap, Coach Mica has Maire and Tobin do conditioning drills, with both Axel and Buddy watching. Minutes later, Tobin whistles at Axel calling him over to her, in which he does.

"You're still one of his favorites you know." said Maire, while she was kidding.

"Seems like it."said Tobin, with a chuckle.

While petting Axel, Tobin also tries to whistle at Buddy signaling him to come over as well. Buddy however doesn't go with Tobin, instead he heads over to Maire.

"Well I guess Axel really does like me better than you." said Tobin, as she joked back at Maire. "And I think Uno prefers you better than me."

"Tobin, Uno still considers you as a stranger." said Maire, as she stated. "Which is why he doesn't trust you."

"But yesterday I carried him with ease, and he didn't do anything to me with not even a single bite. How is that possible?" said Tobin, questioning her.

"He's still getting used to you, that's all." said Maire, as she tells her. "Here, let me try."

Maire walks over to Tobin with Buddy following behind her.

"Kneel down, and hold your hand close to Uno in order for him to sniff it." said Maire, who was giving some directions to her.

"Okay, if you say so." said Tobin

Tobin does what Maire told her to do.

After sniffing Tobin's hand Buddy recognizes Tobin as a friend of a foe, and starts to play with her while licking her hand.

"Huh, well what do you know? He does like me!" said Tobin, as a smile formed on her face.

"You see, he was still getting to know you, that's all." said Maire, while smiling.

"Good boy!" said Tobin, as she rubs Buddy's fur. "Who's a good boy? Huh, who's a good boy?!" 

Tobin picks up Buddy, the puppy is still while being in Tobin's arms.

"I guess I'm his favorite aunt now," said Tobin, as she tells Maire.

"Well..." said Maire

"Besides, Leah I meant." said Tobin

"Yeah, besides Leah," said Maire, agreeing with her.

Tobin puts Buddy facing her directly.

"You can tell this dog is very special." said Tobin, as she admits. "Because he has blue colored eyes. And they look like they're glowing. I know he's a labrador retriever, but is he part husky?"
