The Smart of the Bunch ~ Chapter 26

"If we take into consideration Chrom... What is the most obvious fact that you know about him?" Magnus asked. Astrid stood there staring at him and took a deep breath.

Astrid explained, "I know he's the Exalt of Ylisse and is one of the members of Team Hero."

"And what is GrimDark best known for?"

"Experimenting on him..."

Magnus laughed, "We already know that Chrom is going to target your scientist facility because of his past. Therefore he's going to tie toward me. And then connect the dots!"

"Why would he tie toward you!? What do you and Chrom even have remotely in common?" Astrid questioned. Magnus stood there staring at her and just took a deep breath. "Are you getting pissed or something?"

"Correct..." Magnus groaned. Astrid looked at him in shock as Magnus kept looking around. "But Marth and Upton didn't have the brightest relationship... However, I plan to change that by eliminating Chrom first! We take him down and the entire team is ours to take down!"

Astrid grunted, "Are you sure it's going to be that easy?"

"Oh don't be deceived, there is something about me I haven't told you yet. But it won't be a while until I tell you! It'll be soon before it happens but eventually I'll tell you when the time happens," Magnus laughed. Astrid kept staring at him and then took a deep breath.

Astrid sighed, "I guess I'll take your word for it. Whatever, you do what you so desire, Magnus. You're one of a kind..." Magnus laughed again as he lit up a piece of paper on fire. "I want to show our faces so badly to the heroes. Why do we have to WAIT!?"

Magnus replied, "Because of the suspense. Plus, the moment Chrom sees my face. Everything will become clear."

Astrid yelled, "WOULD IT KILL TO NOT BE THIS MYSTERIOUS!? GOD! You're an amazing person Magnus like I said earlier but you can NEVER EVER BE FUCKING SENSIBLE!!" Astrid looked down at herself and took a deep breath.

"You're quite the angry person..." Magnus muttered. Astrid stared at him as Magnus continued chuckling. "Oh well..." Magnus grabbed Astrid and charged a fire spell.

Astird asked, "M-Magnus!? What are you... doing!?"

"I suppose it wouldn't hurt that I could just kill you right now! I guess everything won't matter if I kill you here! Your importance to me means nothing! AHAHAHA!" Magnus laughed. Astrid continued staring at Magnus in fear as he backed down from Astrid. "Are you going to continue backing away like the way you do!? AHAHAH! You must be joking! You MUST BE!!" He continued laughing as Astrid was trying to gain a better hold of herself.

Astrid asked, "W-What... Did I even do to you?"

"You did nothing... but if you continue this nonsense up we're going to have to find a way to kill you..." Magnus chuckled. Astrid stood there staring at him in horror as Magnus turned away. "You understand the plan now? We must eliminate Chrom as soon as possible, otherwise the entire world is in extreme danger..."

Astrid asked, "Extreme danger?! Isn't it already?"

"Quit being so stupid..." Magnus groaned. Astrid's eyes widened in shock and she was about to rat Magnus out, but she decided to stay silent and stare down at herself. "Well then, let's check in with Marth and Ike to see what they're up to. Maybe their poor little friends as well."

Astrid sighed, "Whatever you say boss." She followed after Magnus and the two continued walking down the road. Astrid looked around and noticed how terribly eerie everything looked. Magnus held a candle in his hand as they continued walking. But soon they went into a room and inside were the protector gods, Jade and Ruby. "You had the protector gods in here?"

Magnus explained, "Correct, you see they're going to be the pawns to create the perfect plan to stop Chrom. If they don't do well... I must have a serious issue on my hands. Chrom is strong, correct but he can't be that strong..." Magnus looked toward the protector gods while Astrid hesitated. "Why are you so afraid...?"

Astrid explained, "Well, I uhm... I don't think they're going to do well. Especially since Chrom has that group of heroes with him! He's not very strong alone but he has the whole group!"

"Please, they're protector gods. They'll be able to do the job."

Astrid yelled, "SIR! They're PROTECTOR gods! They're not GODS or DEMIGODS! They're just protector ones and therefore their powers aren't as strong!" Magnus stood there staring at Astrid and just chuckled.

"Fine, you can say that but it doesn't matter. We're going to find a way to defeat these brats. The protector gods are still incredibly strong," Magnus sighed. He broke the chains off as the two protector gods stared at him. Their eyes were filled with emptiness, under the corruption of Magnus. "Well then, you two go out and find Team Hero. I want them eliminated..." Magnus pointed at the two and smiled. The protector gods slowly nodded as they flew out of the building.

The two kept staring as Magnus walked off again. Astrid quickly followed after as Magnus kept walking through the dark hallway. "Well... sir, what are you going to do now?" Magnus looked toward Astrid with a side-eye and just chuckled.

Magnus explained, "I'm gonna do something I'd like to call, the corruption method. Doing this will ensure the demise of everyone... So what I mean is that the pollution isn't enough. We need to ensure the absolute and TOTAL demise of the entire planet. We need war. We need to put the heroes through WAR! I need to ensure I go down in history as the man who destroyed the perfect RESORT PLANET!!" Astrid stared at him as Magnus covered himself with his cape.

Astrid asked, "How confident are you in this idea? I mean I am all for it but... you seem-"

"Hush up, I know this is going to work. I know the entire world is going to fall into more flames... I know EXACTLY what to do," Magnus laughed but then he dashed off. Astrid chased after him as Magnus went into a room. He was staring at a scene with the city. The city was isolated but it was still standing.

Astrid questioned, "Sir!? What are you going to do?! SIR?!" Magnus continued laughing as he pressed a button on the control board. Astrid continued watching the screen in confusion but then within seconds the entire screen went white. "W-What the?!"

"I sent a nuke to the city. All of those who remained are dead and now..." Magnus chuckled. Once the light cleared, the entire city was destroyed and in flames. "Look at that. ALL THAT DESPAIR! AHAHA! THIS IS WHAT THE WORLD WANTED FROM A MAN! AHAHAH!!!" Magnus looked toward Astrid with a semi-crazed look. Astrid walked back lightly as Magnus grabbed her by the neck.

"AGH! AAAHH!!"

Magnus ordered, "Hush up, you're going to listen to every single order I have for you. DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?! You're going to die here whether you like it or not. Believe me when I say your entire world is MINE NOW!!" Magnus started to choke Astrid as he continued to keep a crazed smile on his face. "You're going to obey me. You're going... TO OBEY ME!!!!!!" Magnus kept a firm grip on Astrid's neck and she soon passed out.

Magnus stared down at her and just stood there in silence. Magnus took a deep breath and grabbed her body. He took out a syringe and stuck it into her body. "As I say... You're going to obey me whether you like it or not. No free will shall be allowed for MY servants..." He stared down at Astrid and just kept a wide smile on his face. A face of terror.
