The Never-ending Tides ~ Chapter 49

Furina got down and sat next to Chrom. "Look at the world around us. Sure it's... not the same but just thinking about it brings a tear to my eye. It's beautiful to watch and I can't... wait for things to improve." Chrom looked at Furina and nodded in agreement. But soon Shuichi came walking over.

"Are you two having fun without me?" Shuichi mocked. Furina slapped him lightly as Chrom laughed. He got down on the ground as the three laughed with one another. "It feels surreal to have a moment of peace with each other. How do you guys feel about this?"

Furina sighed, "It's been very refreshing. I wasn't suspecting this to happen but I am more than grateful that it did end up happening. It's good to have a moment just to breathe." The two nodded as they continued watching the waves. "Well breathe in a mental way, not breathe-"

"We know," The two said with laughter. Furina laughed with them as more heroes were playing with each other. Chrom got up and walked closer toward the shore. He watched everything and got down to touch the water. He removed his glove and felt the water brush against his skin. It was a soothing feeling. As it brought comfort to Chrom. He smiled down at himself and looked back.

"This world is destroyed but even in the darkest moments... you can enjoy yourself..." Chrom whispered. He embraced the soft wind that was pushing against him. Chrom continued to watch the waves. But soon... something appeared strange. The shores started moving backward. Chrom looked down and jumped back. "W-What the..." Chrom looked at it and then at the waves. The waves continued pushing backward.

Chrom froze there as he watched the waves shift. The heroes stopped what they were doing and noticed what was going on. They all watched and basically froze in place. Chrom continued watching it and soon the waves started going into the air.

"Is that a Tsunami?" Shez asked.

Shuichi grunted, "No... a Tsunami wouldn't move itself into the air..." Chrom looked around and saw a boat. He rushed toward it and pulled it over. The waves continued moving their way upward. The heroes rushed over to where Chrom was and helped move the boat.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" Sonic asked. Chrom looked at them and back at the waves.

Chrom yelled, "IF THERE'S SOMETHING GOING ON I HAVE TO ACT UPON IT! I DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS FOR US BUT WE MUST ACT AS HEROES!" All the heroes nodded as Mario turned toward Tsumugi, Micaiah and Alcryst.

"YOU ALL STAY BACK!" Mario ordered. They all boarded the boat as Chrom sailed the boat closer toward the vortex. Tsumugi watched in distraught as Micaiah and Alcryst stare in fear.

Tsumugi muttered, "How... Will I even prove to be a hero if I won't... help?" Micaiah and Alcryst looked at her as Tsumugi dashed down a bit. She stopped where the water hit as the heroes continued sailing their way over toward the water.

"That's... a water vortex... being formed in the sky..." Micaiah muttered. Tsumugi looked over as the two dashed over. Worried for the heroes' safety. They continued sailing their way toward the vortex as Chrom stopped before getting too close. Chrom watched the waves in distraught as he looked back. The three were watching in fear as Chrom turned to face the waves again.

Chrom muttered, "I have no choice but to face everything. But with our water abilities... we have to push through..." Time appeared as she stared at the waves.

"(Magnus... of course you're behind this...)" She thought. She put her hands to her chest as Chrom raised falchion into the air. But before long, the waves and the sky touched. It released a wave of air against the boat and pushed it back a little. The heroes looked at each other and toward Chrom. He had his hands on the wheel and kept his sword up.

Mario asked, "A-Are you sure this is the-a right idea?"

"I won't let our planet fall to something like this..." Chrom muttered. He kept his sword into the air and kept his eyes locked on the vortex. The heroes all took their weapons out one by one. Raising it into the air. "WE ALL HOLD THE POWER OF THE WATER WITHIN US! IF WE CAN MANIPULATE IT WE CAN STOP FROM MORE DESTRUCTION FROM HAPPENING!"

Tails muttered, "We have only twenty minutes before this vortex does something... are you sure we're going to make it!?" Chrom looked at Tails as he showed the time on his tablet. Chrom looked back at the vortex as it created giant air waves against the waves. The boat was becoming more and more unstabilized.

Chrom sighed, "We're going to do it whether you like it or not. So prepare YOURSELVES EVERYONE!!" Chrom got himself locked in as he grabbed onto the wheel. The heroes all looked at Chrom as he started pushing it toward the vortex. Meanwhile, those on the shore were watching in fear. Tsumugi looked around the area trying to see what she could use to her advantage.

"Tsumugi?" Alcryst asked. Tsumugi ignored Alcryst as she looked around the area a bit more. Micaiah and Alcryst looked at each other as Tsumgui dashed off. "TSUMUGI-" Tsumugi continued running as she got to a smaller boat. She pulled it out toward her and looked down at the boat. She looked back at the group as Tsumugi pushed it into the ocean. She got on and started sailing it toward the group.

"TSUMUGI! THE HEROES TOLD US TO WAIT-" But she was further into the ocean. Micaiah put her hands to her mouth as Alcryst grabbed onto his head. The heroes were pushing their way toward the vortex while Tsumugi kept her distance. She watched the tidal waves get worse and worse. Tsumugi kept her hands to her chest and grabbed a thread out.

Tsumugi muttered, "I need to keep my eyes locked in... and ensure the heroes' safety in case things get worse..." She kept her hands on her thread and was trembling a bit. But the heroes got even closer and Chrom got down making a water platform. And made a rush toward the vortex.
