Humming Mindset ~ Chapter 36

Chrom and Claude were laying in bed together. Both of them were shaken up from the events that happened. They had just killed a disposal. Chrom grabbed his head and just took a deep breath. "What the fuck was that..." Claude looked back at him and nodded in agreement.

"A disposal got in?! But how?! I thought those were supposed to be kept out of the goddamn building!?" Claude grunted. Chrom looked at him and took a deep breath. "That was horrifying but I'm glad that is over." Chrom nodded sorrowfully.

"I'm your guilt."

"Hiding away..."

"What?"

"Your guilt, the guilt of everything in your past..."

Chrom sat there staring at himself as he repeated the phrase over and over again. That person who he saw as a demon... that was his guilt formed as a demon. But was it true or was it trying to gaslight Chrom? Chrom sat there staring at himself and hugged himself. Trying to gain an understanding of what was going on.

Claude asked, "Are you feeling okay? You passed out after we finished killing the disposal." Chrom looked at him and nodded. "Are you feeling... sick or anything of that sort?" Chrom shook his head as he looked down at himself.

Chrom sighed, "I'm not feeling too sick, I'm just feeling like... whatever I suppose. Guess there's that for now. But I'm really just feeling okay. I don't know what happened but the important thing is that it's not affecting anyone right now." Claude nodded. The two got out of bed and quickly went to get rid of the disposal out of their home. Chrom seemed to have gotten a bit unsettled by everything that was going on. But he managed to stay calm and collective about everything.

Claude got himself ready as Chrom waited for him. Today the heroes were going to meet up and devise a plan to figure out how to raid Grim Dark. Chrom stood there staring down at himself in silence. Worried about the attack but at the same time he was excited. He was more than willing to go out and kill the people who tormented him those years ago. But he couldn't help but feel completely uneasy.

Claude announced, "I'm set for the day, you can go ahead and do your things now." Chrom nodded as he walked into the room to get himself ready for the day. Claude walked into the kitchen and started preparing breakfast for everyone. Today he decided to cook waffles for the whole family. Chrom got dressed and walked to find Claude cooking.

"Are you making something?"

"Sort of? I mean I just went a lazy route and decided to make waffles. But there's nothing that bad about this," Claude explained. Chrom chuckled as Claude continued to work on the waffles. Soon Lucina came walking out and ran to Chrom's hands.

Lucina yelled, "Daddy! Daddy! You're not wearing that eyepatch anymore to look like Dimitri!" Claude snickered as Chrom stared down at her. He rolled his eyes playfully and held Lucina's hand. "Are you going to stay with us today?"

"Unfortunately not, I have to plan some things with Team Hero," Chrom explained. Lucina had a sorrowful expression on her face but quickly swapped emotions as she went out to go play with her toys in the toy bin. Chrom kept watching everyone wake up and went to check on Morgan. He was mostly just by himself in his room playing with his own toys. Chrom smiled gently as he saw Morgan having his own fun.

Lucina soon came inside and started playing with Morgan. Chrom walked back to the living room and saw Lissa just watching Owain playing with the same toys Lucina was playing with. There was still a very playful environment in the home. Claude had begun serving everyone their plates of waffles. Chrom grabbed his plate and just ate it plain.

"Why do you eat the most basic things with nothing on them?" Claude questioned. Chrom sat there staring at his plate and just didn't know what to say.

Chrom replied, "I don't know. I've kinda always eaten things like this."

"You're talking to the same guy who bites straight into oranges at times. Chrom has gotten some weird eating habits," Lissa giggled. Chrom stared at her and started laughing as well.

Chrom sighed, "Well Lissa is right. My eating habits are extremely weird. But at least I'm eating something. I say eating is important but sometimes I forget to eat." Chrom looked down at himself as Claude giggled as he wrapped his arm around Chrom. "Anyways, I better get going as soon as I can."

"You can't stay for much longer?" Lissa questioned. Chrom sadly shook his head as he grabbed his necessary stuff.

Chrom described, "Since I'm the only one who knows a general structure of Grim Dark, I want to ensure that the raid goes well. I know not everyone on the team knows things as much as I do but we'll be fine. Don't worry." The others all nodded as Chrom went to Morgan's room to say goodbye to them.

"Make sure you bring something back papa!" Lucina yelled. Morgan just kept staring at Chrom as Chrom hugged him tightly.

Chrom asked, "What do you want to see brought back even?" Lucina sat there thinking to herself but eventually just ignored Chrom and went back to playing with Morgan. Chrom chuckled as he made his way back to the front. He exited the building and stood there staring at the town again. "To think about yesterday... I saw Tsumugi and an entity in one night. Gods I might just need to sleep even more than I do..."

Chrom started walking his way down to the park. Which is where Mario suggested that everyone would meet up. Chrom looked around the scenery, things were rather clean and despite the red sky people were quite thrilled to be in a safe place. Chrom went to the entrance again and found more people being invited into the safe haven. And those who were infected were killed or being held hostage.

Everything was working strangely but at the time it was the only thing that was making sense. Chrom walked his way toward the park after examining the town. Once he got there he saw Mario, Sonic, Tails and Kirby all already there. "Guess I wasn't too late." Chrom smiled as he joined everyone else.

Mario replied, "Everyone has about twenty-thirty minutes to-a get here. But in the meanwhile, we need to figure out the layout."

"Uh, I got you covered!" Tails announced. He took out a blueprint that represented the entire interior of the facility. "I was doing some research last night and came across a blueprint on a dark web site. It was a surface dark web so it wasn't so bad." The heroes nodded as Chrom got a closer look at it.

Chrom sighed, "That seems accurate, I'm surprised you managed to get something like this."

"Dark web stuff is way too prevalent to even care anymore. We saw gore videos and pornography on just the surface web alone. So... at this point anything is easy to access thanks to whoever decided to screw over the internet," Tails explained. Chrom slowly nodded and soon the rest of the heroes began showing up. And even Tsumugi showed up. Mario happily invited her to sit as most heroes just sat away from her.
