Shi Tingyu didn't realize that her small gesture had already triggered a grand scenario in Lu Weiguo's mind.

After breakfast, Lu Weiguo almost left with Zhang Jin. Zhang Jin was 32 years old this year, four years older than Lu Weiguo, so Zhang's wife also called him "Little Lu" with familiarity.

Zhang Jin greeted Lu Weiguo, "Let's go, Little Lu, we'll head to the training ground together."

Lu Weiguo followed Zhang Jin, and the two walked towards the training ground.

On the way, Zhang Jin didn't inquire about Shi Tingyu, as their relationship was good, but discretion was necessary.

As soon as Lu Weiguo left, Shi Tingyu locked the door and went to the corner to trim the plants she had brought from home.

She took a few cuttings from each plant and placed them in the space for rooting. She also watered the plants with diluted spiritual spring water, which made the plants in the corner instantly appear more vibrant.

In May, when various flowers were blooming, Shi Tingyu was concerned that the blooms might fall due to her earlier fall. However, the buds proved resilient and began to open after watering.

Shi Tingyu also planted some vegetable seeds in the space. From her past experiences reading novels, she knew that produce from space was usually superior in taste and nutrition compared to those grown outside.

She prepared a small plot for the seeds, and after watering, she exited the space. Seeing the soil still clinging to the hoe, she quickly covered it back up.

After finishing the planting, Shi Tingyu noticed her hands were burning. Looking at her hands, she saw they were covered in blisters. Her hands weren't used to heavy labor, which explained the blisters. Fortunately, they were small and didn't require special treatment as her body would absorb them naturally.

She was cautious while cooking lunch, trying not to burst the blisters accidentally.

In the afternoon, instead of washing clothes as planned, Shi Tingyu took a nap and then sat idly in the corridor.

Suddenly, she heard a dog barking. Following the sound, she discovered a small, yellow puppy trying to dig its way into the yard through a hole blocked by grass.

The little dog managed to get into the yard and seemed to enjoy wandering around the garden she had watered earlier. Shi Tingyu quickly picked up the dog.

"Hey, little guy, don't ruin the garden I just planted."

However, the puppy was eager to get to the garden and the plants. Shi Tingyu wondered what attracted it so much.

Then it dawned on her that the puppy might be drawn to the spiritual spring water. To test this, she poured a bit of spiritual spring water from her tea cup. As soon as the puppy smelled it, it stopped its attempts to run, wagging its tail excitedly and trying to drink from the cup.

Shi Tingyu quickly removed the cup. If the puppy drank the spiritual spring water, it might exhibit unusual traits, and she was unsure how its owner would react.

Afterward, she fed the puppy some leftover food from lunch and then shooed it away. She blocked the hole with a rock to prevent the dog from coming back.

The little dog, now full, ran back to its old home.

Jiang Yun, seeing her dog return, felt a wave of relief. She picked up the puppy with a stern expression.

"Where have you been? Be careful not to get caught and turned into dog meat."

The puppy wagged its tail and barked playfully.

Jiang Yun's stern expression softened. She placed the puppy in front of its food bowl.

"Are you hungry? Eat up. Next time, don't run off."

The puppy looked at the leftovers disinterestedly and turned its head away. Jiang Yun noticed the puppy's belly was slightly swollen, indicating it had been fed already.

She wondered, "Who was so kind as to feed you?"

In these times, sharing good food with a dog was unusual.

The puppy barked, its eyes clear and innocent.

Jiang Yun, now a bit perplexed, recalled Shi Tingyu, the new wife of Lu Weiguo. She remembered that Shi Tingyu was not only beautiful but also had a pleasant name.

She wondered how such a stunning woman ended up married to Lu Weiguo. Jiang Yun felt a pang of guilt. She blamed herself for the beautiful Shi Tingyu's situation.

Unknown to others, Jiang Yun had a secret. Before Shi Tingyu met Lu Weiguo, Jiang Yun had been matched with him.

At the time, she had been attracted by Lu Weiguo's promising career as a young, capable military officer with a good family background. The idea of a comfortable life with such a man seemed appealing.

During their initial meeting arranged by a military wife, Jiang Yun had been apprehensive. When she saw Lu Weiguo, his tough demeanor scared her so much that she fled without even speaking to him.

Reflecting on that encounter still made her uneasy. Eventually, Jiang Yun was introduced to her current husband and moved past her fears.

Yet, she couldn't help but feel that Shi Tingyu, with her stunning looks, might have found someone even better had Jiang Yun not intervened.
