Dean
Was I boyfriend of the year? No. Brother of the year? Hell no. Father of the year? Even worse. I was trying, okay? Just like the three of them, I was very close with Benny and when someone like that needed help, I was going to help.
Even if it meant having to help him from family. The guy saved my life, and I know Paisley has a past on vamps and Sammy ... well was Sam, but I had him covered. He wasn't coming.
I put Baby in park as I made it to the shipyard Benny and I discussed meeting at. He said the nest was here and well, I was going to help him take them out. Whatever his plan was, he didn't want to kill humans, it wasn't like him. He loved humans.
I walked around to the back to grab a machete from the trunk glancing at Benny.
"This is the place, huh? So what's the plan? I hang back while you guys do some trust falls and binge drinking?" I slid a syringe of dead man's blood into my jacket pocket.
"Man, if I didn't know you better, I'd say you have an extremely low opinion of us vamps," Benny shot back with a raised brow. I gave him a simple shrug.
"For my girl's sake, I kinda do."
"I noticed she didn't take too well to the truth. That Miss Paisley, she's a sweetheart but it seems like you got yourself a fire cracker on your hands, Dean."
"Oh you think that's bad? You didn't know her when I took her and Sam from Stanford," I chuckled reminiscing on the good ole days. He merely gave me a curious look but shook it off anyway assuming it'd probably be best if he didn't ask. It was nothing bad, she just hated me for a long time, but that was also a terrible time of her life.
We entered the shipyard building and went our separate ways. I held my flashlight in front of me with my machete in hand looking in all directions. I heard footsteps behind me and turned around in response, holding my machete sturdier for my own well being. I had to be on guard and on alert. I didn't see anybody there, but I began walking the area to see if I could see anyone hiding.
I heard light footsteps behind me so I swung around swinging the machete with me. He grabbed my wrist then pushed on me roughly making me fall to my back. I let out a small groan as he got to the floor and started straddling me with his fangs out looking at me hungrily. This must be the vamp Benny said is killing everybody. Desmond was his name.
"Benny never told me he was bringing a friend."
"You're not gonna talk a lot, are you?" I reached into my pocket for the dead man's blood. "I've been dealing with crazy .. all day," I went to jab Desmond in the neck with the syringe but with heightened abilities, he grabbed my hand and squeezed. The syringe busted in my hand breaking and spilling everywhere. Son of a bitch. I groaned out as he forced my hands to the ground with one hand then took his other and sliced at my neck with his nail. He licked the blood that came onto his nail. He lets out a hungry snarl and I watched with wide eyes as he went to lunge at my neck.
Desmond was suddenly pulled off of me then his head was on the floor beside me. I let out a breath looking from his decapitated head up to Benny.
"Son of a .. took you long enough!" Benny took my hand helping me off of the ground. "I didn't sign up to be a vamp blood bag!"
"You've lost a step, friend. You need to lay off the junk food."
I rolled my eyes as I softly touched at the cut on my neck. I winced at the sting feeling it was still gushing some blood. I looked to Benny who if I didn't know better, was eyes locked on the spot. His eyes were narrowed and his lips twitched as he watched me look at the blood on my finger.
