Dean
Paisley was sitting next to me with her head on my shoulder as I looked through the laptop on what the case could be. She begged me to do it but she needed a break for a minute, and I wasn't gonna let her get sucked into all this. Cas was on the bed looking through dad's journal sitting next to our sleeping daughter. I glanced down at Paisley to see if she had possibly fallen asleep yet.
"I'm still awake," she sighed studying the laptop.
"Why don't you get some sleep?"
She only kept quiet as her eyes moved along the laptop screen. I pursed my lips.
"Your father ... beautiful handwriting," Cas suddenly spoke looking at the two of us. I looked to him narrowing my eyes softly. Now would be a good time to check in on him having got back from Purgatory and all. The way he constantly seemed out of it, it made me wonder if he was reliving it. I know I was through dreams.
"How you feeling, Cas?"
Paisley sat up with curiosity taking over her face as she looked to Cas.
"I'm fine."
"Well, I just — I — I know when I got puked out of Purgatory, it took me a few weeks to .. find my sea legs."
I could see Paisley glance at me with a frown on her face as her hand went to my thigh. I ignored it as I studied Cas trying to read him and get something off of him. Being angel, he didn't express emotions so it was hard to tell what he was feeling or even thinking. They weren't meant to feel too much.
"I'm fine," he grunted again.
"Don't get me wrong. I'm — we're happy you're back. I'm — I'm freaking thrilled. It's just this whole mysterious resurrection thing: it always has one mother of a downside," I pushed the laptop about halfway down. I glanced at Eleanor's calm breathing because I honestly had it in thought that his resurrection had something to do with the angels suddenly being after her. They've hurt Paisley once trying to get to Eleanor, I'd be damned if it happened again. Or something worse.
"So what do you want me to do?" Cas shut dad's journal and looked at the two of us expectantly. I shifted in my seat giving Paisley a look. She only knitted her brows curiously and looked back to Cas.
"Maybe take a trip upstairs."
"To Heaven?" he looked at me ridiculously.
"You can't be serious," Paisley gave me a look. I hated that look. The look of I've just suggested something completely stupid that could get us killed.
"Yes," I looked between them. "Poke around, see if the God squad can't tell us how you got out."
"No," Cas spoke quickly. Her eyes left me and went to Cas sensing the anger he was beginning to exhibit. That was one of the basic emotions we could get from him.
"Look, man, I — I hate those flying ass monkeys just as much as you do but —"
"Dean! No!" he shouted making Paisley and Eleanor jump. I glanced at her as she only rolled over and curled back up. Paisley got up from beside me as I closed the laptop and she sat next to Cas holding his hand.
