Kidnapping my kidnapper

Chapter 31

Kai's POV.

I looked at the briefcase in my lap where my laptop was hid in, trying to remember the plan we made. I wasn't so sure about taking a case with me, it doesn't look like something the police would be carrying around, but the others told me no one would even notice.
Antonio, Lulu, Micol and Katja already got in the museum and me, Joe and Julia where waiting a little further away in a police car till Lulu calls us. Even though we prepared a lot for this, I still didn't feel so sure about my part. How do they expect this will work, like I could just turn off the entire security alarm in a few  minutes and import a video in their system?! 

Speaking of, I shuddered at the thought of the video. One day after we discussed the plan, Julia came with bloody clothes to me, handing me a USB. 
"Here, I got the video. It was kinda fun to make, altough we had to kill that guy because it didn't look like he could keep secrets. He would have been catched by the police either way"

Suddently Julia's phone started to ring, and after answering the phone and hearing a scared Lulu talking to us like we were the police, Joe started the car.

Arriving at the scene, we saw people storming out of the museum, trying to get away from the so called 'murderers' 
In the middle of all this chaos I also saw Katja, standing next to five other people, pointing panicked at the museum.  

Joe parked the car and we immediatly got out, with Julia in front of us and me and Joe walking slightly behind her. When she got to the people who were standing with Katja, she pulled out her ID card. (Which Antonio somehow managed to craft, who knew this guy could be useful for something)

"Police. We got called here by someone, saying a person got shot. Where are they at?", Julia quickly said, speaking like that wasn't a question but an order. 

The guy standing in front of us nodded. "We didn't see it, but this woman next to me said there were four people fighting in the arcesories-section"

Aha, so they really directly chose the place we had to steal the ring from? That didn't sound like a good idea.

"Alright. Don't let anyone go inside, that would be dangerous", Julia said, and we then started to walk into the museum. There were still people going outside, but by the time we reached the section we had to go to (by following Julia, there was no way me or Joe knew where to go), everyone had already gone  out. And there they were, Antonio and Micol standing above a dead Tom, with Lulu next to him crying. 

"DROP YOUR WEAPONS AND PUT YOUR HANDS UP", Joe screamed, pointing a gun at them. Even though there was no one else in the museum beside us, no one stopped the act. Well no one except Antonio, who I saw giggling for a bit before going back to his serious expression. 

While Julia was speaking with Lara and Joe was busy dealing with Antonio and Micol, I sat down on the ground, where I knew the cameras would not see me from. Now on to my work. 

After trying to take my usual routine with this, which consists of trying to first hack into the wifi, then from there to the connected devices, then code my way to the security system and shut it down, I realised that I couldn't even do the first step. At fist I couldn't even find the wifi at all and started to question if they seriously just don't have one, but even after I found it I couldn't get into it.

I tried using brute force with a tool I have, but I already thought from the start that it wouldn't work. All the other techniques that I have learned in my life also weren't working, and I started to stress out. If I take too long the people outside will get suspicious or maybe call the real police... shit, why haven't we thought about the fact that they can call more police to come, we should have hacked the police to get all the calls directed at us, which I knew wouldn't work at all, and why am I even thinking about it, it's too late for that?! Right now I have to somehow get in the security system, but the fucking-

"Hey, how is it going?", I heard Julia whispering in front of me, her back turned in my direction. I looked at the ground, kinda ashamed that I still didn't even achieve one thing.
"It's... it seriously isn't going well, there is no way I could hack into this without even having access to a comput-" I stopped dead  in my tracks, suddently getting an idea. How haven't I thought about that, am I stupid?!

"Julia... I need to get to the uh... control room of this place", I said, but the hopes I had built up slowly faded away by the look she gave me after that.

"Are you crazy?", she half whispered, half screamed. "I looked at the outline of the museum before we got here, and the control room is literally on the other side of the building! And nevertheless  the fact that you can't get there without being spotted by the cameras, how long is that supposed to take?! The people working here aren't just gonna let random police men take over the museum for more than 30 minutes, as a matter of fact I think the only reason no one has come in yet is because of Katja keeping them busy"

I grouned despite knowing that she's absolutly right. 

"I know what to do", said Tom quietly, making us all look wide-eyes in his direction.

"TOM WHAT THE FUCK?! DEAD PEOPLE CAN'T TALK, SO SHUT THE FUCK UP!", Joe hissed but I wanted to know what he had to say, so I stood up and walked to him, acting as if I would be checking his jacket pockets. 

When he started talking again, he talked to the ground, so that the cameras shouldn't be able to see him. "When we got here I saw a vent system going around the place, and every room should have one. If it is big enough for you to fit in there you should be able to make your way across the museum, and I doubt there are any cameras up there"

I looked at Tom slighly unsure. Really now? I have to crawl through the vent? Are we in a video game or what? "And how do I know which direction I have to go?"

"I know the way... but still, we can't do any of this, the guards are waiting outside", said Julia in her thoughts.

"What if we split up, you and Kai go to the control room and we go out already", suggested Micol, who was still kneeling on the ground beside Antonio. 

Joe shaked his head. "No... they would notice Julia missing, she was the one that talked to them"

"Well then Julia you just tell Kai the way to go and he'll go by himself while we go already", shrugged Antonio.

I frowned at him. "The fuck? And how am I supposed to steal the ring all by myself?!"

"If Julia tells us the way to go I can go with you", said Joe and then turned to Julia. "And call the others and tell them to come with the police car and the ambulance already. And let two more guys talk to the workers with you, so that they wouldn't notice two men missing" 

We all then glanced at each other, as if waiting for someone to suddenly have a better idea, but when no one said anything, Joe looked at me and I nodded. 

Alright, so now the slightly different plan is set. Julia wasn't kidding when she said we would have to improvise if anything else happened.
