Tyler paced around his cell, grunting in frustration. God, what the hell?! He didn't know what was happening. Where was Taylor, was she safe? Was his mom ok?

And what about the Fields? The Banners?

What was going on out there?

Ashlyn rolled her eyes. "Are you trying to make a dent in the floor?" She snapped, irritated.

"At least I'm doing something!" Tyler snapped. "You're just sitting there!"

"How do you know I'm not doing anything?" Ashlyn challenged.

Tyler groaned. He tugged at his hair. "Because you're just sitting there!"

"I'm thinking." Ashlyn snapped.

"Of what?" Tyler shot back, in no mood for her bullshit.

Ashlyn sighed. "Of a plan, half wit. What the hell else would I be thinking of?"

"I don't know!" Tyler shot back. Frustrated, he slumped against the wall and slid to the floor. "I'm so tired of this....how long have we even been here?"

"Since that guy came in? 6 hours I think." Ashlyn answered, twiddling with something in her hands.

"How the hell do you know that?" Tyler asked.

"I don't."

"So you guessed?"

"No I actually know it's been six hours."

Tyler looked like he was about to pop a blood vessel. He glared at her, eye twitching. "You know I used to think it wouldn't be too bad being stuck with you. I was SEVERELY mistaken."

"Shut up I have a concussion." Ashlyn shit back. She took a wobbly step up, going to the cell door.

"What the hell are you doing?" Tyler asked.

Ashlyn twiddled with the lock for a bit. To Tyler's surprise, it opened. Ashlyn hummed, holding up the now broken sewing needle in her hands.
"First thing they taught us. How to pick a lock. Did you not pay attention or what?"

Tyler grumbled. He glared at Ashlyn, standing up and following her out. "So what the hell do we do now?"

"I dunno. I didn't think that far ahead." Ashlyn shrugged.

Tyler stared at her, flabbergasted. "You're acting so much like Aiden right now. Don't you have always have a plan?"

"Ew don't compare me to Aiden. And second of all No. I—"

"Have a concussion. Yeah I heard you the first time." Tyler sighed. "C'mon."

Tyler grabbed Ashlyn's wrists, yanking her to the doors. Ashlyn looked back. "What about the other guards?"

Tyler looked back. He sighed. "I...don't know. We can't take them all right now. The best thing for us right now is to get out of here. We can come back for them later. And preferably when we're healed."

Ashlyn nodded, and the two walked out.

They rounded the corner and—
