Aiden groaned as he sat on the bed, nursing his wounded ankle. Jesus.

Why'd his bones have to be so damn fragile? Seriously it was infuriating!

Aiden sighed. Well shit. What was he supposed to do now? He couldn't get Ashlyn to help him like this—unless.

Hm.

Yeah.

That could work?

Logan hummed to himself. Jeez. Why did they ask for these flowers so last minute? Honestly it was kinda infuriating. Taylor whined dramatically, slumping on the floor.
"This is so harddddddddddd!"

Logan poked her side with his foot. "Oh get up. We're not done. We're not even halfway!"

Taylor whined again. "But it's so hottttt! Can't we take a break?"

Logan sighed. "Tay...."

"Pleaseeeeeeeeee?"

Logan huffed. "Alright fine."

Taylor sat up. "Yaaaaay! See Logan you're so nice!"

Logan chuckled. "Really Tay, you need to be more careful. It's real hot out. And I thought you'd be used to this by now?"

Taylor groaned. "Who the hell could ever get used to this heat? It's infuriating!"

Logan smiled. "So...how's Tyler? I heard he came to visit you a few days ago."

Taylor smiled. "He's doing fine. Still the same asshole, but that was expected."

Logan laughed. "Ok, but he's not that much of an asshole,"

Taylor raised an eyebrow. Logan laughed.

"Anymore. He was a total dick when he was younger though."

"You got that right,"

Logan and Taylor laughed. Taylor sighed, sitting on the table. She looked frowned, picking up a book.

Mythical creatures?

"Hey, Lo?"

"Mm?" Logan hummed in acknowledgment. He was busy putting flowers in the pots.

"Why do you have this book?"

"What book?"

"Mythical creatures?"

Logan froze. He gulped. "Oh uh..! I was just curious."

"Curious?" Taylor raised an eyebrow.

"Yup!" Logan was sweating.

Taylor frowned. "You're a bad liar, Logan."

"I'm not lying..."

"And I'm Queen Jessica. Come on, what's going on? You can tell me! We're family!"

Logan sighed. He slumped, looking out the window.

Taylor frowned. "....is this about what you saw that day?"

Logan froze. Bingo.

Taylor put a hand on Logan's shoulder. "Logan please....I'm sure it was nothing. You said it was all in your head, right?"

Logan looked away. Taylor frowned. "It was in your head Logan—right?"

"Um..."

"Logan Fields you tell me the truth right now or I'm gonna lose it."

Logan gulped. He slowly lifted up his shirt, showing Taylor it. A huge scar on his side, clearly from some sort of claw. Taylor gasped when she saw it.

"....was this—"

"—from that? Yeah..."

"So Ashlyn's arm...?"

"Was from it too..."

Taylor looked scared, but she frowned, quickly realizing something.

"Wait....if that's true...then why are you so worried? What could possibly be so wrong with that creature? And it lives in the woods, so what is there to be worried about?"

Logan gulped. He froze, shaking. "Theres....a lot."

"Tell me."

Logan sighed. "It's nothing. I'm just....ok you want the truth? I'm anxious. I'm really, really anxious about all of this. And that creature...we don't know what it was from. At all. There could be more...so what happens when it comes into the Kingdom? What then?"

Taylor sighed. She rubbed Logan's back. "Logan, nothing is going to happen here. We're completely safe, I promise."

Logan nodded. He leaned his head on Taylor's shoulder.

Deep in the heart of the forest, he laughed. It was time.

It was finally time.

On the night of the full moon.

It would happen.

Oh it made him giddy.

Maverick had such big plans for this kingdom. Bigger than what they could ever dream.
