Chapter 18: Anniversaries and Birthdays

"Ashlyn. Ashlyn. Ashlynnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!" Taylor smiled, shaking Ashlyn's shoulders. Ashlyn hacked.
"Let me go!"

"It's your birthday sooooooon!"

"So?"

"Your Turing 19! That's a big deal!"

Ashlyn sighed. "You said the same thing when I turned 18 last year..."

"Well birthdays are a big deal! And plus—yours is on the anniversary of the kingdom! It's such a blessing! Right?" Taylor said cheerfully.

Ashlyn groaned. She loved Taylor—she was her best friend. But Jesus Christ—she was a bit much sometimes.

Taylor hugged her and laughed. Ashlyn sighed, patting her head. "Ok dumbass. Just no overboard parties this year. Ok?"

Taylor nodded. "No problem!"

Aiden, like appearing out of thin air, popped up behind them. "Whatcha ladies talking about?"

Taylor smiled. "Hi Aiden! Nothing much, just Ashlyn's birthday!"

Ashlyn cursed. Taylor why?!

Aiden grinned. "Oh a birthday party you say? Really?"

"Mhm! It's a week from now, wanna come?"

"AHEM!" Ashlyn coughed, grabbing Taylor. "Just give us a minute."

She pulled Taylor aside, glaring at her. "What the hell are you doing?!"

"Inviting him," Taylor said plainly, unbothered by the fact Ashlyn was so upset.

Ashlyn groaned. "I don't want him there!"

"But you guys are friends! and plus—"

"No!"

"But—"

"No buts! None of that! He will not be there, period. Is that understood?"

Taylor looked away. She sighed.

"Understood."

"Good." Ashlyn huffed, walking away.

Taylor grinned to herself.

Yeah there was no way she was going to listen to that. Ashlyn's birthday needed to be FUN!
