Akaashi's POV:

Later that afternoon, Akaashi found himself sitting with Bokuto, recounting the events of the meeting behind the school. Bokuto listened with his usual energy, his eyes wide with curiosity.

"See??!! She was the one behind all the notes." Bokuto said, leaning back with a thoughtful expression. "My theory was right!"

"Yeah," Akaashi replied, nodding. "But I had to let her down gently. She's a nice person, but my feelings....they're elsewhere."

Bokuto grinned widely, as if he had been waiting for this moment. "Elsewhere, huh?"

Akaashi hesitated for a moment before sighing softly. "It's Y/N".

Bokuto's grin grew even wider. "Y/N? Really? That makes sense! We've talked about it before, right? I bet she also likes you!"

"I didn't want to make any assumptions, but...I think there's something there. Something mutual," Akaashi continued.

Bokuto clapped him on the back, laughing. "Well, it's about time! I knew something was up between you two. So, what's your plan now?"

Akaashi gave a small, contemplative smile. "I'm not sure yet. But I think it's time to talk to her. See where we stand."

Bokuto nodded enthusiastically. "That sounds like a solid plan! Just don't overthink it too much, Akaashi. Sometimes, you've just got to go for it."

Akaashi chuckled again, grateful for Bokuto's unwavering support. "Yeah, I guess you're right."

As they walked away from the gym, Akaashi's thoughts drifted to Y/N. The next step was clear: he needed to be honest with her, just as she had been with him, and see where their connection could lead.

It's time to find out what this really means, Akaashi thought with quiet determination, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

The next day, everything seemed back to normal. The trio gathered during lunch, the conversation flowing smoothly between them. It felt a regular day, but there was a subtle shift in the air. As they sat under the tree in the courtyard, Bokuto suddenly grinned and leaned forward.

"Well, looks like the case is finally closed," he announced proudly, puffing his chest out. "Guess the detective squad can officially disband!"

Y/N raised an eyebrow, a hint of curiosity tingling at the back of her mind. "Wait, what? Why?" she asked, her eyes darting between Bokuto and Akaashi.

Akaashi, calm as ever, gave her a small smile. "The girl, back during the festival. She confessed.," he said simply.

Bokuto joined in and proudly said, "My theory was right, you know?"

Y/N blinked, her mind catching up to the words. It was as if a weight lifted off her chest, and though she tried to suppress it, a wave of relief and quiet joy spread through her. She confessed... Y/N thought to herself, glad that the whole situation was over.

"Wait, wait, wait!" Bokuto interrupted, waving his hands in the air. "You can't just drop that bomb and not give us the details! How'd it go?"

Akaashi's expression remained neutral as he shrugged. "I thanked her for her honesty but told her I didn't feel the same way."

Bokuto gasped, clutching his chest dramatically. "Akaashi, the heartbreaker!" he teased, laughing loudly.

Y/N couldn't help but smile at the banter, though her thoughts were spinning.

Thank goodness, she thought, feeling a little lighter than before. She knew she shouldn't feel so relieved, but it was hard to deny the sense of comfort that came from knowing Akaashi hadn't reciprocated the other girl's feelings.

Just then, the school bell rang, signaling the end of lunch. The trio stood up and began heading back to class, the easygoing mood between them returning.

"Guess we're back to regular school life, huh?" Bokuto mused.

"Looks that way," Y/N replied, her voice light. But as they parted ways, her mind still lingered on the past few days.

Later that afternoon, when school ended and the halls were quiet, Y/N made her way to her locker. As she opened it, something small and colorful caught her eye. Sitting on top of her books was a neatly folded note.

Her heart skipped a beat. She reached for it, her hands trembling slightly.

Could it be?

Carefully, she unfolded the paper and began to read. It was short and simple, but the words made her breath catch.

I've admired you for a while now. Maybe one day, I'll get the courage to say it to your face. But for now, this will do.

Y/N felt her cheeks warm, her heart racing as she clutched the note tightly in her hand.
