Emma
The wedding was beautiful. Michelle was a beautiful bride, and the couple looked genuinely happy. The afterparty was in full swing now. Justin had been amazing throughout the event; he even made small talk with everyone we met and never left my side. It still amazes me how much he surprises me every day. He wore a plain black suit and grey shirt with a black tie; it was simple, but it was the sexiest thing I've ever seen. The suit looked like it was made for him; he looked lean and strong in the suit. His green eyes shone every time he spoke to me. Making me want to kiss him badly. I had already given him a quick kiss in my house before we left, but even that small kiss had a crazy effect on me.
We were now seated after dinner. Justin and my uncle's son Aaron were talking about UCLA.
"Hey Em!" someone said behind me. I knew who it was from his voice. It was Noah. I quickly got up to hug him.
"Noah ! How are you?" I say excitedly.
"I'm great! How are you? It's been a long time."
"I'm doing good! How's Penn?" Noah was attending Penn University on the East Coast.
"Yeah. Everything's going good!" He looks past me and pulls me into another hug. After letting me go, he bends down and whispers in my ear.
"Who's the hotshot, who looks like he's about to kill me with his looks?"
"What," I say as I turn back to see Justin glaring at Noah and me.
"That's Justin, my boyfriend. Come say hi," I say as I make my way towards the table.
"Noah, this is Justin; Justin, this is Noah." I exchanged their names, but I could still sense some tension.
"Hey man, How are you doing?" says Noah, extending his hand for a handshake.
"Hey, I'm good," says Justin stiffly. Noah must sense the unease too as he laughs.
"I should go, Em; Michelle must need her best man. It was nice seeing you though. ", he gives me a quick kiss on the cheek. I say okay and smile.
"You too," he continues saying to Justin, who just nods in response, still glaring at Noah.
As soon as Noah leaves, I turn to Justin. "What's the matter?" I ask.
"Nothing," he says, but I could see from his face expression that he wasn't fine.
"Was it Noah? Are you jealous?" I question with a smile on my face.
"What no! Why would I be jealous of him?" he says way too quickly, confirming my thoughts.
I couldn't help but laugh at the situation, saying, "You know he's probably more interested in you than me.".
Confusion spreads in his face. "What?"
"He's gay," I say quietly near his ear, hoping none will hear us.
"What? He was your ex, right?" Justin asks, still confused.
"Well.. As you can see, our parents are pretty conservative, as is this town. Noah hasn't come out yet. He was my best friend. I was just helping him out in high school. I didn't get a lot of attention from boys as well, so the arrangement worked out for the both of uss," I say, shrugging.
His features soften in understanding. "That's amazing, so no one knows except you?" he questions.
"Well, Michelle knows. Apart from us, no one yet." He nods in understanding. My dad comes from across the ballroom floor to our table.
"Hey guys, it looks like we'll be here a lot longer. We need to help out the Robinson's with a catering issue. You can go home if you want since you are leaving early tomorrow morning, you can catch up on your sleep," my dad says.
