Emma

I'd thought I would feel awkward or odd with Justin after what we've just done, but I was just laughing at what he had just said to me. I can't believe my dad talked to him about us.. you know.. even though we technically didn't have sex, thinking about what we'd done made my heart go fast again. Justin must have noticed this as he pulled on boxers and made his way back to the bed. He lay sideways looking at me. I was undercover now, still feeling a bit chill from the rain.

"What's on your mind?" he says, analyzing me.

"Nothing.. that was..." I was struggling to find the words.

"Awesome?" he nudged me playfully with a grin.

"Yes, it was", I return his grin.

"How far have you gone with a guy?" he asks rather casually.

"I..umm.. I.."

"Come on, Emma, are you still shy after we just did?"

I just rolled my eyes and pulled the covers over my head. He hugged me and started tickling me.

"Stop!" I say, laughing in a very unladylike fashion.

"Not until you agree to talk to me," he insisted.

"Fine.. fine.. I'll talk," I say breathless.

"It's actually embarrassing, but I've never done anything more than kiss a guy," I admit.

"Hmm.. good to know," he says, grinning.

Feeling a little bold, I ask, "How about you?"

Now he was the one who looked uncomfortable. "Well, I've had a couple of girlfriends."

"A couple?" I raise my eyebrow.

"Fine.. I've been with a lot of women, but I've not felt what I feel with you with anyone," he says, looking straight into my eyes. I could sense the sincerity in those green eyes. His words made my heart race, but I tried to hide it.

"A lot?" I question. He just tips his head back and laughs.

"You only heard that, huh?" He says, still chuckling. I traced my hand across his chest and hand, which were covered by tattoos.

"They're beautiful"

"Yeah? I was hoping to go for badass" he says with a big smile.

I didn't want to spoil the moment, but I had to ask about his mom. I knew she was sick, but recently she looked very tired. I grab his shirt from beside me and put it on. Justin made no effort to hide the fact that he was looking at my every move.

"I've been meaning to ask... How's your mom? She looked more tired when I saw her the day before yesterday at the studio."

I see his expressions turn sad. "Um.. My mom's got blood cancer.. she got diagnosed about four months ago. It's Stage 4."

I felt my heart break at his expression. It was horrible. "I'm sorry. That is awful."

He lets out a small smile. "Yeah.. She was undergoing chemotherapy, but as of last month, she stopped taking the treatments. She says she's losing herself quickly during the treatments."

I just nod, allowing him to continue.

"I tried asking her to continue, but I saw what it did to her. She doesn't want Joanna to remember her like that. So now, we're just hoping she..." His voice breaks.

I interlace my hands with his. "She will," I say hopefully. He looks me in the eye and gives me a smile, which breaks my heart even more.

"So, your dad's at your place now?" I question, trying to change the topic.
