Broken but not shattered

Chapter 14

Siobhan's POV

It had been 4 days since Vivian was on my doorstep begging me to go with her and I slammed the door in her face. She has tried calling me multiple times a day, but I ignore it. If I answered I wouldn't be able to push her away it broke my heart the first time, but all I wanted to do was run into her arms and never let her go. However, Roger would never allow that to happen. He has made it clear he owns me.

It's 7 pm and Roger left a few minutes ago to drink with his buddies. Tonight should be fun when he gets home I thought to myself before I heard my phone ring. I was expecting it to be Vivian again,  but It was Marjorie. I saw her the other day cause Roger said I had to go to his meeting with him. She looked worried when she saw me walk in but she didn't say anything then and she hadn't tried calling me, so this came as a surprise. It made me worry. What if something happened to Vivian? 

"Hello," I answered.

"Siobhan! You actually answered" Marjorie said.

"Was there something you needed, Marjorie?" I asked. I didn't want to be on the phone with her any longer than I had to. She had a similar effect on me that Vivian did. She made me feel safe and loved. She acted as if nothing I have done in the past matter. That the only thing that mattered was my safety. She treated me the same way she did before I pushed her away the first time. Before I became the Ice Queen.

"You weren't answering Vivian. So I thought maybe you could use someone to talk to. I also wanted to make sure you were still alive. When I saw you at the meeting you looked like you were going to collapse any moment." Marjorie explains. She was my best friend and even after everything that I have done and the way I treated her she still cares for me.

I didn't know how to respond to her. I did want to talk to her, but I knew if Roger found out he would go after her too. What the hell I thought. He just left he won't be back for hours. "Can you come over" I hesitantly ask.

"I'll be there in five," she said before she hung up. 5 minutes she must have still been at the nursery. I hope I didn't just make a huge mistake. 

~5 minutes later~

I heard a knock on the door and I half expected there to be an army of people with her, but it was just her. As I opened the door she rushed to me and pulled me into her arms. Normally I'm not really a physical touch type of person, but I need this and I think she did too so I hugged her back. 

"I'm so happy to see you. How are you doing?" she asked as she pulled away and I led her into the living room.

"I'm fine" I lied.

"Siobhan, don't lie to me I know you are not ok. Talk to me why did you come back? We had a plan. We were going to protect you." she finished. What do I even say to that? I can't tell her the real reason cause she will tell Viv. That can't happen.

"I don't need you to protect me. Roger and I talked he said it will be different." I lied, but if Viv found out why I left she would never stop trying to save me. 

"Siobhan, even if that's what he said you know it's only a matter of time before he hurts you again, and what about Vivian?" she asked. I know she's right cause he has already hurt me multiple times since I've been back, but what can I do? I wouldn't be able to live with myself if anything happened to Vivian.

"Marjorie, just drop it," I said hoping she would. 

"No, Siobhan you have a woman that loves you and is losing her mind because she doesn't know if you are alive or dead and I know you feel the same about her, but here you are choosing to be with that asshole. So no, I will not drop it tell me what is going on. Why did you leave?" she demanded.
