CHAPTER EIGHT
POOL PARTY
"come on benj!" audrey cheered on as the boy was ready to throw to throw a throw a ball in one of the cups, there were a bunch of people around them this time.benj glanced at her for a second, sending a wink in her direction. "kobe!" he called out as he tossed the ball at the red cup. the ball bounced once on the rim of the cup, then circled it before finally sinking inside with a splash. the crowd erupted in cheers, and benj threw his hands in the air, grinning widely.
bailey looked at audrey with a knowing look as she grabbed her hand and gave it a little squeeze. "would you look at that," but then she noticed a few marks on her neck. "you didn't!"
"we didn't," audrey just rolled her eyes, but she couldn't help the small smile tugging at her lips. "just made out." bailey then whipped her head over to look at benj and noticed that he also had hickies and he had more than her.
suddenly, a voice called out from the crowd. "yo, audrey!" a boy she didn't even recognize held up a ball, a challenge in his eyes. "think you can beat freshman over here?"
audrey raised an eyebrow. she glanced at benj, who was still riding the high of his last shot, then back at the boy with the ball. her competitive spirit kicked in, and she stepped forward with a confident smirk.
"easy," she said, taking the ball from the boy's hand. she shot a quick glance at benj, who watched her with an amused expression. "watch this nielsen."
benj laughed, crossing his arms as he leaned back against the table. "let's see what you've got, rae."
audrey lined up her shot, the crowd quieting as they waited to see if she could back up her words. she took a deep breath, focused on the cup, and then, with a flick of her wrist, sent the ball flying.
it sailed through the air, bounced lightly off the rim, and then dropped neatly into the cup. the room erupted once more, and audrey couldn't help the triumphant grin that spread across her face.
