After Kurenai saved Rukia, he escaped the Soul Society and returned to the New World where he saw Katsuki, "Hey! Didn't I kill you?" Kurenai asked, "Sure did. But that's not our worry right now." Katsuki said, "Then what the hell is?" Kurenai asked, "There's some weird guy up there, he said his name was Kurai." Katsuki said, "I know him. He killed me. He's obviously powerful, and as much as I hate it, Katsuki, we have to work together if we wanna win." Kurenai said, "Alright. But we continue our fight afterwards!" Katsuki said as both he and Kurenai charged towards Kurai.
