Amberly was in awe of Gotham Academy. The pictures online didn't do it justice. As she stepped inside, she could almost make out her reflection in the marble flooring. She thought Midtown had been fancy, but it had nothing on this prep school.
She was nervous as she identified herself to the test proctor for the day. What if someone had noticed her paperwork looked just a bit off? She couldn't afford to get put into the system.
The older woman in a tight pencil skirt glared at Amberly. "Name."
"Amber Lee."
The woman crossed something off on her clipboard. "Go down the hall to the first classroom on the right. I will be in shortly to begin the test."
Amberly followed the instructions, choosing to sit in the first empty seat at the front of the room. Some other teens were already seated and staring at their phones or talking quietly.
The soft whispers disappeared entirely when the woman entered.
A man poked his head in the room to hand off test pamphlets. He used the pages to cover his lips, but Amberly could still hear what he was saying to the woman.
"Gordon's kid won't be coming. Apparently, he got special permission to test a week into the school year." The name was familiar, and Amberly wondered if the librarian had a kid. It would explain why she knew so much about the school and their entrance policies.
The woman thanked him and sat her clipboard on the desk at the front of the room. She clapped her hands twice. "Alright everyone I'll be passing out today's entrance exam booklets. Please don't open them till I say you may begin."
Amberly knew she needed to score high on the test. She straightened out the paper in front of her, slowly picking up her pencil. As she was told it was okay to start, she read through each question carefully.
A half an hour in, and Amberely was gaining speed. Her anticipation grew, finding many of the questions to be easy. Much of the material was similar to what she'd been studying at Midtown.
When Tony had first enrolled her in the high school for accelerated kids, Amberly felt like a fraud. It took her months to catch up with the other students, but she eventually did and now it was going to pay off.
Like her dad, Amberly had a knack for subjects like math and science. Writing and history, while not horrible, weren't the easiest, and it didn't help that this universe would have a whole set of different historical events that she'd never heard of.
She got tripped up on a few questions about the Justice League and when they were formed, but took a guess since the test was multiple choice.
At the end, she felt confident in her answers.
"When will we know the results?" Amberly asked the woman in charge as she handed her the test back.
"Should be a quick turn around since this is the last group. Your parents will receive an email as soon as everything as graded." That meant Amberly would have to make another trip to the library to check the email she made Tony.

Tim's phone had been going off for the last hour. He could feel it vibrating in his pocket as he tried to fill in tiny bubbles on his answer sheet. He thought that he'd told everyone at WE that he'd be unavailable today, going to take another entrance exam so that he could go back to Gotham Academy, but apparently not.
It wasn't like he even wanted to go back to school all that much. He was doing a good job acting as CEO in Bruce's absence. Bruce, Dick, and Alfred corned him though, for some kind of intervention. He only had a year left and then could go back to working full time at WE.
