Chapter 10

That Monday night Darrian was brushing Kaylie's hair after her bath.

"Kaylie, what would you think about Max coming over for dinner on Friday night?" Darrian asked.

"I think you should." "I've been wanting to meet him."

"I know but mommy didn't want to introduce you to him too soon."

A few hours later Darrian was getting into bed. Her phone rang.

"Hello?" She said.

"Hi baby." Max said.

"Hi sweetie."

"What are you doing?"

"I'm about to go to bed."

"Me too." "I just wanted to say goodnight."

"Do you want to come over for dinner on Friday and meet Kaylie?"

"Absolutely." "I can't wait."

"I knew it would make you happy."

"I love you so much."

"I love you too."

That Friday night Darrian was making dinner. There was a knock at the door.

"I'll let him in mommy." Kaylie said. She opened the door and Max was standing there."Hi Max."

"Hi Kaylie." "Can I come in?

"Yes." He went inside.

"It's nice to meet you."

"It's nice to meet you too."

"Is your mommy in the kitchen?"

"Yeah."

After dinner they all played games together.

A few hours later Darrian was putting Kaylie to bed.

"What do you think about Max?" Darrian asked.

"I like him." "You smile a lot around him."

"He makes me very happy."

"Good."

When Darrian went into the bedroom Max was waiting in bed. She got in bed next to him.

"Thank you for letting me meet Kaylie." Max said. "She's a little angel."

"She likes you."

"I'm glad." "I can't explain it but I feel such a connection to her." "I wish she would've been mine."

"So do I." They kissed.
