I held my phone on my lap, the number already typed in but I couldn't find the courage to actually dial. What was I supposed to say? Hey, Dad, sorry for disappearing but I ran into wolves, met my mate, and bonded myself to him for the rest of my life. How's mom and my brothers?

Absolutely not.

It had been a week since Nate and I had had... whatever it is that happened. A moment or whatever anyone would like to call that.

Since then, I'd kept my distance emotionally, but I was glad sex was not off the table. Every night, Nate would find a new way for us to fuck without hurting him. His wounds were definitely a lot better and almost fully healed by now, but I wanted to be careful. He was also finally able to shift and had occupied himself into building his wolf's energy and strength.

I was left with my own thoughts and despite the urge to leave this pack was still great, a part of me was terrified of stepping foot out of this house. I knew I had no reason to be afraid, I was not the one they were after. But since we looked identical, it didn't matter if I was him or not, both Brandon and I were in danger. And I was not going to bring my family into this crazy mess.

I delete my fathers number from the screen and I slowly type in my eldest brother's, Peter, number. With a shuddering inhale, I press dial and wait as the phone rings a few seconds before it's answered and a very familiar voice speaks, "Hello?" My heart immediately clenches in my chest, I didn't realize just how much I missed my family. Even thought they were annoyingly overprotective. "Len?"

I close my eyes hard and release a shuddering breath, "It's me, Peter" I murmur quietly.

"Where are you?" he demands and I hear a bit of shuffling in the background. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"

"I'm okay" I say with a nod that he couldn't see and run my shaky fingers though my hair. "It's so good to hear your voice."

"Lennox, you need to tell me where you are right now. Mom's worried sick- we all are. We'll go get you today."

I shake my head with a shaky cry and force away the tears threatening to spill, "Please tell mom and dad I'm okay" I say and hold my shaky hands against my chest. "I've got to go."

"Don't you dare hang up on me" Peter says, his voice low but a familiar feeling washes over me. A familiar, but still unknown feeling. "Is someone there? Are they holding you against your will? Are you hurt?"

"I'm safe, Peter" I cut in immediately and let out a soft sob. "I'm okay, I promise I'll go home one day, but I've really got to go now. I love you."

"Len!"

I didn't realize how much it would hurt to hang up on him until I'd done it. Tears filled my eyes and I wipe at them angrily, while clutching the phone against my chest tightly. Suddenly, a calm feeling slowly washes over me and I sigh softly while brushing my hair back. "How much did you hear?" I mumble quietly.

"Not enough" Nate answers from the doorway and my eyes travel to him, watching him leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. My eyes travel up those muscular arms and towards his beautiful face. "How are you feeling?"

We're interrupted by my phone ringing and Peter's number starts flashing on the screen. "I'm hurting them" I sob out and swallow hard as I turn away from him, while shutting off the phone as soon as the call missed. "They're worried sick and I can't tell them where I am or that I have a werewolf as a mate. I feel pretty shitty."

"You'll see them again" he promises from his spot against the wall. "I'll take you there myself if I have to."

I let my eyes move back to him at that and my heart clenches tightly in... a strange feeling. Hunger must've shown in my face because Nate pushes himself from the wall and makes his way over to me, slowly almost like a predator. I was already panting by the time he reaches the bed and I watch as his fingers gently caress my jaw. My eyes flutter at the simple contact, my skin tingling in delight.
