A.N- Yes, this is VERY VERY VERY late, as in like months late, but I already got into that
BUT!
I had a request for a scene later in Neverseen, Legacy, and another scene in Legacy, and I promise I'll get to that, but I just feel like I should go in chronological order. Sooo if you're wondering where your scene went, IT'S NOT DISAPPEARED! It's still coming up.
So it's going to be this scene first, then the scene in the tent in exillium, then the scene where Sophie tells Keefe she broke up with Fitz, and then the scene in Loamnore.
With the fathomlethe, Keefe finally had something useful to do. He finally felt like he was helping, in some way. While everyone else was busy with perfecting their abilities or learning how to do some strange self defense that Keefe would surely excel at, he stayed in his room. He'd only left it for meal times, and only a couple of them at that, but Mr. Forkle always sent food up to his room when he didn't. It made him feel childish, which he assumed was what Mr. Forkle wanted him to feel, so that he would "come to his senses" and stop ignoring everyone. Especially Foster.
The gnomes had been more than helpful with providing him paper to write his notes on. Every night, his dreams were so vivid and sharp that by the next morning, he already had at least 20 notes to put up there.
Keefe stared at his notes sullenly, the cheering in the background barely registering in his brain. Fitz must have been able to transmit to Sophie from even farther. They trusted each other soo much, didn't they?

Why did she join the Neverseen?

Was she in it before I was born, or was it after?

Was it because of me?

Or am I because of it?

Who am I?

So far, he hadn't found any connections, but there was a whole lot of strange things that he hadn't noticed before.
There was a soft knock at his door. He turned, but didn't go get it, his brain running through a mental list of who it could be. Until the soft knocking turned turned into firm knocking, which very soon elevated into pounding.
"Keefe!" Keefe flinched. He knew that voice. It was Foster.
He stared at it for a second, unsure of whether to open it or not.
"Keefe, I'm not leaving until you talk to me!"
He didn't know how this visit would end. Talking to Sophie- actually talking- could break him. He knew it. It would ruin him. He would be convinced to stop using the fathomlethes and that would be it. He would just agree to let everything go back to normal.
Would that really be so bad?
Keefe was evidently having a mental argument with himself for too long, because her pounding just got louder and harder, and he had no choice but to open it otherwise his door would break off and that would really be the end of everything.
