Getting to know you

As morning broke Tim was fast asleep after the exhaustion of life the past day or two he just slept. Lucy's eyes opened memories from last night filled the air. She turned her head there he was. Her soulmate his arm protectively around her waist. Lucy looked at the clock 6:40am shit this was late Liv slept in. Lucy removed Tim's arm and left the bedroom. Tim still blissfully unaware.
Lucy went in to livs room. Morning sunshine she said the small girl smiled mummum she gurgled. That's right mummy's here Lucy said as she lifted her out of the crib. Lucy picked out an outfit. A little pair of dungarees and a flower top. Let's do your hir madam. Lucy looked down at Liv her nose scrunched in disgust there was Tim in her expressions. Lucy sighed and kissed her. She put her hair in two pigtails. Beautiful she said looking at her daughter. She started making breakfast. The small girl was just walking but still wobbly on her feet.
The doorbell went Lucy looked at her watch 7:30 that would be ange and Jack. She opened the door ange pulled her into a hug. Her eyes scanned the room as she waved to Liv who shot her a smile. Are those Tim's boots? Ange asked. Lucy put her fingers to her lips he's asleep.
Oh ange said. Ooh
No no nothing like that. He was soggy from the rain. I gave him dry clothes and we talked. Ange looked at her as she poured them some coffee. He has no car and the rain was still pouring so he stayed. Ange looked round to the sofa. He then saw Liv sleeping too she added. Anges eyes widened and had a panic attack yep big night panic attack and a daughter Lucy said trying to make light of it. A feeble smile on her face. Where is he? Ange asked. Our bedroom she said. Ange made a face ! Did you have and then mouthed s e x. Lucy shook her head no just slept. Ange nodded oh so it's our bedroom again is it winking. Lucy corrected herself no my bedroom.
Auntie lulu jack asked where Liv Lucy looked around somewhere darling. The girls chattered more.

Liv had toddled into Lucy's bedroom. Giggling to herself she walked over to the bed on Tim's side because there are photos there. She picked up the album and was babbling away. Tim opened his eyes. He had the best sleep. He put his arm out. No Lucy. Cold bed she must have been up for a while. Coconut filled his nose and he looked down. There she was. His heart pounded. She looked at Tim and back to the photo album. Tim's hand reached forward and touched her hair. It was so soft. The small child looked up at him. Up up she said holding out her arms to Tim. He sat up in bed and lifted her she pointed to the album on the floor. Tim picked that up too. She set it down and opened. It was all Tim Lucy and Liv. Tim cleared his throat. Then the little voice spoke again. Dat she said pointing to the pictures. Tim had a flashback to last night when Lucy and her played the who's that game.
Tim smiled Livy sat back her small body fit in Tim's dat she said again her big doe eyes looked at Tim.
He smiled
Who's that he pointed at Lucy.
She clapped her hands. Mummy
Clever girl said Tim.
Okay who's that pointing at Liv
Livliv she said
Yes well done.
His heart got quicker.
He flipped to another page. There was a photo he never knew existed. It was at jacks first birthday Lucy and Tim were stood next to each other his arm wrapped around her both smiling but not looking at the camera.
Who's that he asked.
The girl studied the picture leaning forward she pushed herself off Tim with her hand resting on his belly she leaned back um mummy and the pause felt excruciating. Dada she said. Tim breathed out again. Tim's hand traced over the photograph. He smiled remembering that happy day. His fingers traced over Lucy. Liv looked at his hand mumumum Tim saw his hand was still on Lucy Livy looked at Tim for clarification that it was her mum. Tim smiled yes that's mumumum he mimicked back to her Livy giggled and said it again pointing at Lucy. Gosh she was so clever Tim thought. Her little hand met his and her eyes darted back and forth from the picture. Was she putting it together. The man in the photo who she called dada was sat with her. Tim's heart quickened he had never felt love like it before.
The little girl turned around and looked at Tim he stroked her face. She made a puzzled look.
Just then Lucy came in both Tim and Liv shot round and gave the exact same smile. The young girl squealed and climbed off Tim Lucy walked over to her mumumumumum she said putting her arms out Lucy picked her up and kissed her. I'm sorry Tim I hope she didn't wake you. Tim shook his head. Liv put her hands on Lucy's face when she was talking. Tim giggled what she doing he asked. Lucy rolled her eyes that's what she does when she wants a kiss Lucy said while turning her head and kissing her. The little girl laughed and wrapped her arms around Lucy.
Tim looked at Lucy did you sleep ok he asked. She nodded surprisingly well you? He nodded too. She's beautiful Luce he said pointing to the little girl in her arms oh I know she said breathing in her scent. Lucy went to her wardrobe and got some clothes out. She paused we um we are going to have breakfast if you want some. Angela and Jack are here too. Lucy walked in to the bathroom and put Liv down the little girl started to whimper she pointed at the door mummumumum she stood at the door Tim didn't know what to do he had comforted many children before but never his own. Coming baby Lucy said as she opened the door. Her jeans were on but she was still in her pj top hey you're okay she said rubbing her face the girl toddled behind her. Changing is a nightmare well anything when I step away from her is a nightmare Lucy laughed as she went over to her dressing table. Tim chuckled. The young girl clinging to her mums leg.
Are you working today Tim asked. Lucy shook her head. Ange she shouted coming replied ange. She came into the room morning Tim he smiled at her. can you take Liv I need to finish getting changed and she's a stage four clinger today. Tim laughed Angela tiptoed and flung the girl in the air. Giggling at her auntie both walked out. Lucy walked back into the bathroom and got changed. She brushed her hair and put on some jewellery. Jack was now 23 months old but the minute Tim walked out he grabbed Angela mamma uncle dim he said. All the adults laughed. Angela had Liv on her hip as Lucy got her high chair ready. She put down pancakes and fruit again as she knew her daughter would eat it. Liv squealed and started eating. Uncle dim she messy Jack said pointing to Liv they giggled. As breakfast was done jack turned to Lucy Auntie lulu can we do the breakfast clean up dance Angela laughed and Tim looked confused. Lucy looked over at Tim. She pointing at Liv hates getting cleaned up after meal times so we had to come up with a dance to make her laugh. Uncle dim can you help. Looking at Jack it was a wonder her ate any breakfast. Tim carefully wiped his hands but the food smeared. Tim laughed this is harder than it looks. Lucy walked over to Liv and made some funny faces Liv held out her hands up she said uh uh girlfriend Lucy said you are one messy baby. Lucy laughed. Wiping Liv took a matter of seconds. Tim looked over impressed. She got her out of the high chair but her top was ruined. Ange can you grab me a top from her bedroom. I'll do it said Tim. He saw all her clothes. Folded with such care. He chose one with cherries on. He came out where's Luce Angela pointed to the bedroom. It's Luce now is it she said raising an eyebrow. Tim made his way in to find Liv in fits of giggles and Lucy tickling her. Lucy's head buried in to Livs neck. The laughter was contagious. His face was beaming and he felt whole again. here he said handing Lucy the top. She smiled. Ahh mummy's favourite top the little girl giggled she put the top on and kissed her.
Ange and Jack headed out. Tim helped them to their car. You're loving this aren't you ange said. He smiled. Let her lead it though Tim she's healing. Tim nodded and hugged Angela goodbye.
