The soft hum of the hospital room filled the quiet space, interrupted only by Harry's occasional coos as Tim cradled him carefully in his arms. Lucy rested against the pillows, her body exhausted but her heart full. She had been thinking of Liv all day, worrying how their little girl would react to the changes ahead.

"I hope she's okay," Lucy whispered, her voice filled with emotion. "I've never been away from her like this."

Tim smiled gently at her, though he shared the same concerns. "She's going to be fine. Genny's with her, and she's been so good throughout your pregnancy. I'm sure she'll be excited."

Before Lucy could respond, there was a soft knock at the door, and then Genny stepped in with Liv, who looked wide-eyed and a little disoriented.

"Mummy!" Liv cried out the moment she spotted Lucy in the bed. Her face crumpled as she rushed towards her mother, her little arms outstretched, as if all the emotions of the past hours without Lucy suddenly caught up to her.

Genny, seeing the tears welling in Liv's eyes, quickly lifted her up and placed her gently onto Lucy's hospital bed. Lucy immediately opened her arms, and Liv clung to her, burying her face in her mother's chest.

"Oh, sweetheart," Lucy whispered, stroking Liv's hair softly. "I missed you so much, too."

"I woke up, and you weren't there," Liv whimpered, her voice trembling as she wiped her face with her small fists. "I didn't know where you went."

"I know, baby," Lucy said softly, pulling her daughter closer. "Mummy had to go to the hospital to bring your little brother into the world. I've been thinking about you the whole time, and now I'm right here."

Liv lifted her head, her big brown eyes searching Lucy's face, still holding on tightly as if she feared her mother might disappear again. "You promise you're not going to leave again?"

Lucy's heart ached at the question, and she kissed the top of Liv's head. "I promise, sweetheart. Mummy's not going anywhere."

As Liv settled into her mother's embrace, her gaze shifted towards Tim, who was still holding Harry in his arms. Her brow furrowed in confusion, her small voice curious but hesitant.

"What's that?" she asked, her eyes fixed on the tiny bundle cradled in her father's arms.

Tim smiled gently, his heart swelling with love for both his children. "This is your baby brother, Harry," he said softly, standing up and carefully moving closer to the bed. He leaned down, giving Lucy a moment to hold both of their children in her arms. "Do you want to meet him?"

Liv nestled deeper into Lucy, her tiny body pressing against her mother's as she watched Tim pass Harry into Lucy's waiting arms. There was a pause, a heartbeat of silence, as Liv looked at the newborn, her face a mixture of curiosity and awe.

Lucy held Harry securely, her hand supporting his head as she angled him slightly toward Liv. "This is Harry," she said softly, her voice filled with love. "He's been waiting to meet you."

Liv's small hand reached out tentatively, her fingers brushing against Harry's downy-soft hair. She gasped quietly, as if surprised by how fragile he seemed, her earlier tears forgotten in this magical moment. She stroked his head, her movements gentle and deliberate, as if she understood how special this tiny baby was.

"Hi, Harry," Liv whispered, her voice barely above a breath. She leaned in and, with the purest expression of love, pressed a soft kiss onto her baby brother's forehead.

Tim and Lucy exchanged a glance, their eyes brimming with emotion. The tenderness in that small gesture, the way Liv's innocent affection bridged the gap between her old world and this new one, left them speechless.
