New normal

After Caleb, it took a while for them to heal and settle into life. Normal life. Time passed so quickly. Life was mundane and slow filled with afternoon coffee, family trips, home cooked foods, dancing in the kitchen to music and cuddles on the sofa.
Days turned into weeks that turned into months and inevitably months turned into years. Tim and Lucy had become a great team. So much had happened. Liv had grown it was her forth birthday coming up. Nyla and James had a baby girl called Leah and Angela had announced that she was expecting again. Jack and liv were very close and would see each other almost every day.
Tim arrived home. The house was quiet. Babe are you in here? Tim called walking into the garage. Luce he said again. Livs head popped up I'm here daddy she said smiling and running to her father. hey munchkin he said picking her up and gave her a kiss. Have you seen mummy. Um Liv looked around there she said pointing to the kitchen. Mummy's there. Right honey you come in now we are going to auntie Angela's soon. Liv skipped in mummy daddy's home. Lucy looked up flowing hair and a red lip smiled at him. She pulled him in. He gave her a kiss you look gorgeous he said grabbing her ass she smiled slipping her arm around his waist. Come on the bbq is starting soon. Liv let's go. They buckled in and drove off. Upon arriving Liv clutched her mothers hand she looked a little nervous. What's up baby? Lucy said I am a bit worried if Jack will play I haven't seen him in a long time. Shall we ask together Liv nodded. Right come on then. Lucy caught up with Tim what was that about Tim questioned Lucy shook her head and mouthed later. He nodded Angela opened the door pulling them into a hug her belly growing away. Hey sweetie ange said to Liv, Liv waved and smiled. Lucy smiled and brushed livs curls out of her face. Mummy she hid her face in her mums legs. Angela looked at Lucy she's a bit worried Jack won't play Lucy said stroking her daughters face. Liv Angela said getting down to her level jacks inside and he's got the Lego he knows you like. Livys head peered around the dog one ange nodded. Bye mummy she said running in. Kids eh Lucy said with a sigh. They settled down and got some food it was a buffet style so Lucy sat with the girls and Tim stood with the guys. Jack ran up to Lucy. Auntie lulu her nickname hadn't changed since he could talk. 5 years later it was still the same. Lucy slipped a hand round him yes bub. Livys sad and I don't know why but she's gone to uncle Tim. Ok thank you for letting me know sweetie. He ran off again. What's that about Angela said she was off earlier. I don't know Lucy said. Lucy saw Tim talking to Liv so went back chatting to Nyla and Angela.
Tim had noticed this and called Liv over. Seeing her sad face broke him. He bent down what's up honey. Liv shook her head and Tim picked her up she normally cuddles in but she looked at Tim and with a small voice said I want mummy her lip starting to wobble. Tim excused himself I'll be right back the guys nodded. He walked over to Lucy. Luce he said yeah she said turning her head Tim shrugged pointing to Liv when Liv saw her mum she burst out crying mummy she said reaching out her arms towards Lucy. Woah sweetheart she said what's going on. She took Liv from Tim. Immediately her legs and arms wrapped round Lucy. Lucy rubbed her back. Nyla stroked her hair. She's always so happy Nyla said I know replied Lucy I don't know what brought this on. What's up baby she said. Liv just cried. Ange do you mind if I go inside with her she shook her head. Lucy walked past Tim who planted a kiss on her cheek. And stroked his daughter's hair.
Once inside Lucy hugged the crying child. Tim turned to Angela do you know why she's crying Angela shook her head. Tim walked in and Lucy peeled the child's arms off her what's up she said studying her face liv tried desperately to lean back into Lucy. She cried continuously. Mumumum was that all came out of her mouth. Tim looked at her. It's been a long time since I've been called that she said looking at him Lucy was patting livs back. Again Liv cried mumumum Tim went over to them rubbing livs hair she looked at him tears streaming from her big brown eyes. Mumumum again Lucy asked Are you hurting? She shook her head. Did someone do something that made you sad ? Again a shake of the head. Are you feeling sad liv nodded this time. Mummy she cried and you want mummy Lucy said. Liv nodded ok come here she cradled her daughter to her chest and rocked her like she did when she was a baby. Livys arms clung to Lucy's top after 10 minutes of Lucy standing and rocking her daughter her cries stopped. Tim leaned in Kissing Lucy's head what was that about no clue she said livs eyes were heavy. She might just be tired Tim said pointing to her eyes. Lucy nodded. She walked back outside and rejoined the girls. Nyla brushed livs hair out of her face. Looking at Lucy what was up. No clue Luce said Angela said her eyes are closed now Lucy sat with liv on her for hours. Liv just slept. I bet she's coming down with something Lucy said. The girls giggled.
Conversation turned back to Angela. She rubbed her belly god I felt useless when I had jack it took me ages to learn to be mum. Hey you're incredible with him. Lucy said smiling. A natural she added raising her eyebrows. Nyla excused herself to talk to James. Angela moved closer to Lucy touching livs hair no I'm not if anything you're the natural she said pointing at Liv nestled in her mother's warm embrace. Would you have anymore, like I know her entrance wasn't the one you planned and her early life was different but look at you two now. Plus shes beautiful you do make cute babies Angela asked. Lucy laughed raising her eyebrows in shock Tim came over came to join the party he said kissed Lucy on the head. What are you two chatting about. Well I was wondering are you and Lucy going to have any more kids. Tim puffed out air and laughed. Truth be told I- i mean we haven't chatted about it. She's coming up to be 4 Angela said perfect age gap. Lucy playfully hit her arm. I've just got into this routine I'm flapping my way through motherhood and madam here is a spicy one. Both Tim and Angela laughed. Babe you're a brilliant mum Tim said Lucy smiled I am rather fond of this one she said looking at her daughter snuggled up on her chest. She's exactly like her mother spicy temper Tim said but with Bradfords attitude Lucy added. Laughing he asked do you want me to take her he said noticing Lucy hasn't really moved and a sleeping child is heavy. Lucy nodded grateful of the break. Tim placed his hands under Livys arms and lifts her. Tim felt how hot she was from sleeping on Lucy. Lucy shook off the girls laughed he positioned Liv but the minute he moved she opened her eyes and moved her head mummy she said her voice horse after all the crying. Tim said mummy's with her friends have a cuddle with daddy. I-I want she squirmed and Tim put her down her hands went out to Lucy Angela seeing this said me thinks your lil limpet is coming back. Mu-m-mum- mummy she started crying. Tim walked over sorry babe it's okay she said holding out her arms Liv climbing back onto Lucy's lap stoped crying she settled back on Lucy who stroked her face and kissed her Liv played with her mums rings and bracelets as she talked to her friends. Baby do you want to go and play Liv shook her head gripping Lucy tighter. Angela had spent so much time with her she said to Liv do you want a cuddle with auntie Angela Liv looked at her Lucy tilted her head thinking she might accept you can't said Liv pointing at her bump I bet you didn't know Liv when your mummy was pregnant with you she used cuddle jack all the time. Liv looked at Lucy she smiled and nodded I used to sit him on my bump he loved it. Bump cuddles are lovely Lucy said go on have a cuddle ange opened her arms Liv looked at Lucy who nodded Liv slid off her mothers knee she reached out to ange and she picked her up Liv cuddled in and Lucy took a sigh of relief. Thank you she mouthed at Angela. Livys eyes were started to shut and the young girl drifted back off to sleep. She's still all you Luce. She looked at her daughter nyla agreed a mini Lucy.  She's always been a stage four clinger to Lucy Tim laughed. The small girl softly snored. Angela gave her a kiss. After 10 minutes of chat tim asked Are we all doing the beach tomorrow Tim asked. Woah nyla said is that Bradford asking about the beach they all laugh livs eyes opened and she sat up Angela rubbed her back sliding off her knee she looked up her hand still on Angela's she saw Lucy she smiled and Angela said who's that. Livy smiled at her it mummy and then her eyes went to Tim she pointed and said daddy's there she looked at Angela who nodded Tim ange said pointing to Liv. Tim walked closer smiling her baby cuddle ? Daddy she said her eyes tired voice slightly croaky. She walked over to Tim her arms lifting up and he lifted her up. She snuggled in and Tim spoke with the guys. Half an hour later Lucy stood. Right ladies I'm going to get my two home she said pointing to Tim and Liv. As Lucy was saying her goodbyes she heard Liv start to cry again mummy Tim handed her over. Lord knows what's up with her. The small child's whimpers kept going as they left Lucy sat in the back with Liv as she slept. Their night was disturbed too she woke shouting for Lucy every time. In the end Lucy had got into bed with her cuddling her close. Lucy had managed to get out of her what was wrong. She was having this reoccurring dream where Lucy would get hurt at work and didn't come home. Lucy's heart hurt when she said. Wrapping her up she reassured her daughter she was safe. Liv nodded but still felt anxiety around leaving Lucy.
As morning broke Tim reached for Lucy to cuddle with but found his path blocked by a tiny figure in bed too. Tim saw Liv cuddled up to Lucy. Lucy had no duvet and livs legs were over her. Tim straightened Liv shushing and moving her up to his side it was a trick he had learnt from Lucy when she was small. Shushing meant she stayed asleep. He place the duvet over Lucy and got up and had a shower. When he came back he noticed Liv was draped over Lucy again he smiled he bent down 8am Luce he said kissing her she woke up and saw Liv. Looking confused she asked did you bring her in bed. Tim shook his head. Little bugger must've climbed in. Lucy got up and had coffee with Tim she explained what Liv had said. His gaze softened as she shed a tear. They got ready for the beach as they were driving over there Liv looked at Lucy mummy do you love me lots Lucy looked at Tim. More than anything baby girl you are my girl and daddy's girl. Why baby? Lucy looked in the rear view mirror would you still love me if you had another baby Lucy was taken back we aren't having another baby hunny. I know but auntie Angela only has jack and she loves him but is having another baby who would she love more. Maybe she can't love too many people so she won't love me as much. Tim spoke Livy auntie Angela is a mummy too and mummy's are the best they can love as many people as needed but they have special love for their babies no matter how big they get. She will always love you. As they left the car Liv held Lucy's hand. Lucy looked at Tim thinking they were going to have a repeat of last night. With a smile she said let's go find everyone. Jack ran over auntie lulu he said hugging her hey bud. She said smiling Liv gripped her arms and her fear began running on the spot for Lucy to pick her up mummy up up she said. Angela saw this and shouted Livy heyyy Lucy patted livs bum go say hi I know you want to I'll be here. Liv ran to Angela embracing her Angela picked her up and sat her on her bump. Bump cuddles are funny Liv said giggling. Mummy look I'm having bump cuddles Lucy smiled daddy can you get my costume I want to go in the water she said jumping up and down.  Angela sat next to Lucy she seems in better spirits today. Lucy explained everything tears in her eyes she's fine one minute and the next she's screaming for me Lucy said. Nyla and Leah walked onto the beach. Auntie nyla Liv shouted waving she ran up to her and hugged her, coming back to Lucy mummy where's daddy Lucy pointed to the water Liv hesitated and reached for Lucy's hand squeezing it tightly he needs to be careful Liv said he is baby he's having fun livs eyes looked at Lucy mummy she sat on her lap I love you reaching her arms round Lucy. Lucy tried to distract her by playing with her hair giggling Liv reached for her mums hair auntie Angela did you know mummy and me have the same hair. They giggled Lucy kissed Liv and then left running to Tim daddy I'm coming she shouted. See Lucy said looking at ange she needs to check in then she's fine. This is so new. Angela looked at Lucy maybe it's because she's older and has an awareness of your job. The day went on the evening rolled around the children played and they ate pizza all adults laughing jack fell asleep so did Leah. Liv looked exhausted especially after her disturbed night. She stood against the empty chair and her head dipped back come here baby Tim said Liv walked over to Tim's chair picking her up her eyes struggling to stay open lying on Tim he stroked her hair her eyes closing all of a sudden she saw Lucy walking up with Nyla daddy can I have mummy he let her go to Lucy. Angela turned she adores Lucy doesn't she. Tim spoke i think she's fine until she sees Lucy then has to be with her. She's worried about Lucy getting hurt at work and it's spiralling. Lucy's a mess and I don't know how to help. Mummy Liv said reaching her arms up Lucy still chatting smiled at her and picked her up and Liv nestled in breathing in her mother's scent. Lucy held her rocking side to side talking to Bailey. Nyla sat next to Tim and Angela she's born to be a mum Nyla said Bradford you need to put another baby in her. You two make the most beautiful children. I would love another one but not sure about Luce after everything she went through. Nyla looked at Tim have you guys spoken about it Tim shook his head. after a while Lucy sat down cuddling Liv close all of a sudden Lucy felt her move and twitch. She sat her up livs eyes burst open she was sweaty and disoriented she looked to see Lucy shushing her and stroking her hair Liv fought it keeping her eyes open Tim started giggling look at her holding on Lucy giggled softly kissing Liv she has the biggest case of FOMO Angela said go to sleep baby Lucy whispered livs eyes shut and her body relaxed.  As the night drew on Lucy's eyes closed. Angela spoke to Tim he started she's shattered livs been keeping her up she doesn't wake me only wants lucy. They packed up and Tim went to lucy kissed her gently babe let's go he reached down and took Liv she slotted into her dad's arms lucy stood and they said their goodbyes.
