(Two)

The sun glowed brightly, an orange dog in its bright light. They seemed to match each other, both bright and cheerful.

It always seemed that neither would ever stop glowing.

Catnap sat next to him, a small smile on his face. The two of them sat on a tree branch, the same one that they had sat on before.

They were watching the other trees leaves blow peacefully in the breeze. (Wait...does that rhyme?"

Catnap slowly scooted closer to the dog. Once he got close enough that their thighs were touching, he leaned his head to the side.

His cheek made contact with Dogday's fluffy shoulder. The cat started to purr, and Dogday laughed.

"Are you tired?" He asked. The two rarely made contact like this, though it had happened before.

The two said that it was okay to lean on each other a little, literally and metaphorically.

"Yeah, a little." Catnap responded, still purring. Dogday giggled.

"Okay, Moonshine. What do you think we'll do today?" The dog asked.

"I'm not really sure." The cat answered and Dogday scoffed, though it wasn't mean.

"You were the one who told me I couldn't go to my own house! Then you refused to tell me why!" The dog complained.

Catnap quickly sat up and moved to his side of the branch. He gulped a little, and he didn't dare look at the dog.

As a response Dogday just moved himself to sit right next to the cat, though he did it a little slower given that if he fell he didn't think he would land on his feet.

Today was apparently the third anniversary of the first smiling critter being introduced.

So, the other seven critters had decided that they would celebrate it, and since Dogday was introduced on that day why not call it his birthday?

All of them knew that they didn't remember their birthdays, even if they didn't say it. They knew that they all could remember something, no matter how small it was. (Except Bubba 😭)

It was better not to talk about it.

Anyways, currently six of the critters were in Dogday's house putting together a surprise party for him.

While Catnap had been sent to preoccupy him until they finished.

"Come on! Why can't you tell me!" Dogday asked for probably the hundredth time, and each time Catnap would just ignore him.

He would start swinging his legs, and hum a tune to a song. Each time the song was different, but his reaction to this scenario was still the same.

The cat began to swing his legs, humming a comforting tune as he avoided eye contact.

"Catnap." The feline just continued to hum, still not looking at him.

"Catnap." The canine said again, getting closer to him.

"Come on, just turn around." Catnap's legs started to swing faster, the tempo of his humming became faster as well.
