S2 - Chapter 5: Training

I was extremely scared when it was my turn to fight. After watching the others, I already knew what Bella would target.

We didn't have this battle at the training ground like before, we were instead next to a massive lake connected to an even bigger river that stretched farther than I could see.

Bella: "Yours is likely the most simple here, you fear your powers"

My face burned with embarrassment.

Adrian: "Y-Yeah..."

Bella: "You seem to be well aware of this fact, why have you not tried to conquer this fear?"

Adrian: "Because I don't want to hurt anyone"

Bella stared at me for a second, likely looking into my past.

I still remember it so clearly in my head.

The sound of water rushing in my ears, the sounds of screaming and drowning, the sheer terror that filled my head when I saw their motionless body in the water.

Bella: "I see... That is indeed quite the problem"

She motioned towards the water.

Bella: "You are forbidden to use your ice in this battle. You may only use the water"

Adrain: "B-But"

She looked over at Brittany.

Bella: "Seal us in"

Brittany nodded and held her hand out. A bubble of magic had formed around us and the lake, blocking everyone else from entering or interfering.

Bella: "If you truly wish to grow stronger, you must overcome your fear"

Adrian: "I do... but..."

Suddenly, the air around us stood frighteningly still.

Adrian: "Did... you do that?"

Bella: "No, I did not"

She looked out into the lake.

A small spiral could be seen forming in the center. Her eyes opened wide.

Bella: "Brit—"

Before she could say anything, a massive creature emerged from the whirlpool, which was now the size of the lake.

The creature had the body of a dragon with only two legs and two wings instead of arms. The neck was long and twisting like a snake while the head was that of your typical dragon.

A Wyvern.

Adrain: "T-This isn't part of the test, isn't it?!

Bella: "No! It shouldn't even be in the lake!!"

I turned and saw everyone trying to get to us, however the barrier held strong as if someone else was casting it.

I thrusted my arm towards the Wyvern, conjuring a spear of ice, however it shattered harmlessly off of its armor like scales.

Adrian: "I-It's cold blooded, maybe if I—"

I would only find out later how this had happened, but right as I was about to freeze it, I saw Mia fall through a portal above the Wyvern and fall straight towards the water.

Adrian: "M-MIA!!!!!"

Bella: "H-How did she get here?!"

She crashed down into the water, the Wyvern spotting her as she fell and deciding to dive down after her.
